Did you know under Labour's Watch...

...you got and could still get £250 for your child under their Child Trust Fund Scheme. Did you know that Mums? It was Labour that introduced the Child Trust Fund. So when your child and everyone elses child is 18 they will be able to join the very few elite that we call 'Trustafarians', you know, the ones that don't work for a living?

Did you know that under the 'Coalition of Cuts' that the Tories and Liberals will bring will mean bye, bye to the Child Trust Fund. So, that means, any more children you have will not get a cheque for £250 to put in whatever account you decide for your little miracle. That sucks right?

OK, want more?

Did you know that Maternity Leave has been extended to 9 months...from 6 months. But did you also know that after 6 months, parents can decide who takes the 3 months. So on top of the Labour's initiative of Paternity Leave (which has been extended to a month now rather than just 2 weeks) - Dad's can have 3 months with their babies when they are between 6-9 months old. How fab is that?! For everyone....yippee, some much needed siesta time for tired Mums...

Under a Labour Government, should we be so lucky, guess what....they want to extend the Maternity Leave to eventually get to 12 months...that's cool.

Also, hope you are all enjoying the reduced Nursery fees that you probably noticed after your child turned 3. Well guess what, that was also under Labour's watch. My fees for my daughter were £457 per month when she was 2. When she was 3 they were £238 per month. I'm delighted. But should the Tories get in, they plan to introduce 'Top Up Fees', so it will be Goodbye Grant and Hello, I'm skint.

Look, you are welcome to join my debate but please before you do, put aside your pre-conceptions and perhaps even get all 3 parties manifestos. You can do this by going online and go to their respective official sites. To be honest, after looking at all 3 my findings were this:

Nick Clegg, Nice but Dim (sorry), it is almost as if they wrote their policies on the back of an envelope at a dinner party. They mean well but seriously we need substance right now. Look at what's going on in Greece. Who do you want to guide us through these harsh times of austerity? We need prudence not wishy washy policies of some man who seems perfectly nice, but seriously, we are talking about the toughest job in the country. And it's not paid as well as you think. Infact, Gordon Brown took a cut of 1/4 of his salary. Sometimes I wonder, has Nick Clegg actually seen a Job Description for the Prime Minister!!

David Cameron - OK, he's got the gift of the gab but think it's very important to remind ourselves of what and who the Tories actually are. If interested, go to You Tube, and watch COMMON PEOPLE 2010.

Gordon Brown - well, as I said before. Here is a man of substance. Here is an unsung hero. Here is a quiet man with a big agenda. Modest, kind, truthful and a human being of the greatest integrity. He is a good man. Why don't you just look at his wife. Sarah Brown. She is a gentle, kind, serene and entirely beautiful woman. She is also highly intelligent and inspirational in many charities and other very important areas. But above all, Gordon and Sarah Brown are parents. They truly care. They know how important the first 48 months of a childs life is. If you don't buy me, then why not find out for yourself. Go onto the Labour Party Offical site. And watch him in action.

Off for a hot bath now

Ta-ra

Happy Bank Holiday!!!

Sarah

Grigsy is now ranting on Twitter that Mnetters are cynical and she has checked out.

I've told her she was patronising and it was rude to not make the effort to look around first.

catinthehat2 · 03/05/2010 10:34

Bus loony I think.

claig · 03/05/2010 10:34

"claig - there you go again. Do you know that Brown's rescue of the banks is now forecast to make a profit? have you looked at the RBS shareprice? And Lloyds? have you seen how much RBS is paying govt for insurance?

It is the original shareholders who have lost out but tax payers will make a profit."

TDiddy, of course the share price of RBS and LLoyds is going up. This is because they are now quids in after they having received so much taxpayer money. They are doing alright thank you. It is us, the mugs who had to pay them, that will suffer. You need to try and see through all the fiddled figures and stop reading the bankers' PR. If the tax payers are going to make a profit and if everything is now OK, then there would be no need for the savage cuts that all parties are going to inflict on us. They could use the profits that the banks make to pay off the debt, instead of hammering the public services and making life a misery for us. The bankers are alright Jack, they will pay themselves huge bonuses out of the profit that they make, it will be the rest of the country that sweats blood for them. Plus ca change.

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 10:39

Claig- RBS is 75pc owned by the tax payer so the shareprice going up means our national debt is reducing. The Govt did a very good trade buying RBS. Will prove to be the case more and more. Fact! I am finding your arguments very confused. It is the shareholders who lost out. Same for Lloyds. The govt's job is to look after the taxpayer NOT the shareholders. The govt did well on these.

Compare the fact that the alternative was the govt picking up the bill of inemployment in a dpression then it looks an even better trade.

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 10:42

Gordon Brown's problem in this election is one of presentation. He is not very good at it and he is not a charmer.

claig · 03/05/2010 10:52

TDiddy, RBS is 75pc owned by the taxpayer. So the taxpayer pays the bonuses for these highfliers and trapeze artists. Meanwhile businesses and homeowners up and down the land are unable to receive finance to help them out, in spite of having paid their taxes to the banks. If you want to believe that the government looks after the taxpayers rather than Fred the Shred and his banker colleagues, then I have some real estate on the moon I'd like to sell you.

claig · 03/05/2010 10:55

Gordon Brown would need to be a snake charmer to dig himself out of the hole that he has made for himself.

scaryteacher · 03/05/2010 11:01

We picked on her and we are a group of nasty schoolgirls - diddums.

'Thinking of you NYC. Don't be too scared, it was some propane and fireworks.' The woman is clearly deranged. Fireworks and propane in combination can kill.

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 11:10

claig - bonuses were not invented by Labour and will not be abolished by the Tories. here we are talking about whether the tax investment in the banks will make a profit and I, along with others are pointing out that the Govt can make a bumper profit from this investment. let's see what DC does to binuses when he wins next week. Will you come back on this thread in a few months time.

I am finding your arguments spurious.

claig · 03/05/2010 11:28

Let's see if the hoped for "bumper profit" from the investment in propping up the banks prevents the savage cuts which are predicted. Let's see if yet more black holes in the banks' accounts aren't unearthed and if the taxpayer is yet again asked to invest some more in the banks, with the promise of milk and honey and bumper profits in the future. I find your arguments naive.

The Tories will sort the bonuses out. Here is what John Redwwod has said

"This morning I awoke to hear that the government line on RBS bonuses is they do not want to run the bank, and have to allow the management to incentivise the staff. What nonsense! If you own a business you are responsible for appointing the management, for deciding how to remunerate them, and setting them objectives. As the taxpayers representatives the government has a duty to tell the nationalised banks what their aims are, who will run them, and what we will pay them. They cannot deny all power or involvement. That?s a stupid cop out."

claig · 03/05/2010 11:35

with Greece in crisis and the contagion likely to spread to other countries, including Britain, we haven't seen the end of the financial crisis. We could well be asked to fork out more good money after bad, as more banks inform us that they are in trouble. The much proclaimed 'bumper profits' from a wise investment in the banks could very well disappear in a puff of smoke, as the banks continue to pick our pockets. Ostriches often stick their heads in the sand, proclaiming that the banks are great and bumper profits are on the way, but even ostriches sometimes have to come up for air and that's when they smell the coffee.

AuntieMaggie · 03/05/2010 11:40

am i being cynical to think that perhaps DC went to see Riven because he thought it would get mumsnet on his side? (sorry Riven - no offence)

AuntieMaggie, very possibly so. But as Riven has said, at least he made the effort. He is a busy man, but he spent time with Riven and listened to her. He got out of his ivory tower and met Riven, which is more than GBH did. I say hats off to him.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 03/05/2010 11:44

Roger Berry is standing down?

DuelingFanjo · 03/05/2010 11:46

how do you deactivate a mumsnet account?
She says she has. Will all her posts disappear?

Tashtodd · 03/05/2010 11:48

Grigsy: just shut up will you

AuntieMaggie · 03/05/2010 12:03

Yes claig, but only because he thought he had something to gain - and don't forget she had to cause a bit of fuss before DC kept his promise.

It's possible that GB never even got her email as he's not just running an election campaign he still has to run the country.

claig · 03/05/2010 12:07

AuntieMaggie, yes you're right. GB is even busier than Cameron because he does need to run the country.

patienceplease · 03/05/2010 12:41

Maybe the OP would fare better in the otherplace netmums where they would appreciate all her hugs and kisses.

can I join you in the sand? though you know that this won't be over on friday don't you?

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 16:52

claig - let's see what DC and Boy George Osbourne do next bonus round at RBS when they are in power.

You keep avoiding the bigger subject of how much profit the next Govt will make when they sell RBS and Lloyds. By the way, the quickest way for us to repay the national debt would be for RBS and Lloyds share price to continue to rise. Give it a couple of years!
