Did you know under Labour's Watch...

...you got and could still get £250 for your child under their Child Trust Fund Scheme. Did you know that Mums? It was Labour that introduced the Child Trust Fund. So when your child and everyone elses child is 18 they will be able to join the very few elite that we call 'Trustafarians', you know, the ones that don't work for a living?

Did you know that under the 'Coalition of Cuts' that the Tories and Liberals will bring will mean bye, bye to the Child Trust Fund. So, that means, any more children you have will not get a cheque for £250 to put in whatever account you decide for your little miracle. That sucks right?

OK, want more?

Did you know that Maternity Leave has been extended to 9 months...from 6 months. But did you also know that after 6 months, parents can decide who takes the 3 months. So on top of the Labour's initiative of Paternity Leave (which has been extended to a month now rather than just 2 weeks) - Dad's can have 3 months with their babies when they are between 6-9 months old. How fab is that?! For everyone....yippee, some much needed siesta time for tired Mums...

Under a Labour Government, should we be so lucky, guess what....they want to extend the Maternity Leave to eventually get to 12 months...that's cool.

Also, hope you are all enjoying the reduced Nursery fees that you probably noticed after your child turned 3. Well guess what, that was also under Labour's watch. My fees for my daughter were £457 per month when she was 2. When she was 3 they were £238 per month. I'm delighted. But should the Tories get in, they plan to introduce 'Top Up Fees', so it will be Goodbye Grant and Hello, I'm skint.

Look, you are welcome to join my debate but please before you do, put aside your pre-conceptions and perhaps even get all 3 parties manifestos. You can do this by going online and go to their respective official sites. To be honest, after looking at all 3 my findings were this:

Nick Clegg, Nice but Dim (sorry), it is almost as if they wrote their policies on the back of an envelope at a dinner party. They mean well but seriously we need substance right now. Look at what's going on in Greece. Who do you want to guide us through these harsh times of austerity? We need prudence not wishy washy policies of some man who seems perfectly nice, but seriously, we are talking about the toughest job in the country. And it's not paid as well as you think. Infact, Gordon Brown took a cut of 1/4 of his salary. Sometimes I wonder, has Nick Clegg actually seen a Job Description for the Prime Minister!!

David Cameron - OK, he's got the gift of the gab but think it's very important to remind ourselves of what and who the Tories actually are. If interested, go to You Tube, and watch COMMON PEOPLE 2010.

Gordon Brown - well, as I said before. Here is a man of substance. Here is an unsung hero. Here is a quiet man with a big agenda. Modest, kind, truthful and a human being of the greatest integrity. He is a good man. Why don't you just look at his wife. Sarah Brown. She is a gentle, kind, serene and entirely beautiful woman. She is also highly intelligent and inspirational in many charities and other very important areas. But above all, Gordon and Sarah Brown are parents. They truly care. They know how important the first 48 months of a childs life is. If you don't buy me, then why not find out for yourself. Go onto the Labour Party Offical site. And watch him in action.

Off for a hot bath now

Happy Bank Holiday!!!

Riven

Enjoy your bank holiday visit to the Zoo with your little one.

Gordon is pretty super but he's not SuperGordon, unless he's not telling me! No seriously, where do you live Riven??

Perhaps someone else can tell me?

Sarah you don't have to compliment people, I am not seeking praise from a stranger.....just wondering what incentives there are for us to vote labour. Afterall no party will benefit us with money in our pocket(and why should they we're not broke on paper and I'm not that selfish...also if DH was earning enough to pay 50% I would be delighted that he was earning near what he used to).

Alouiseg · 03/05/2010 09:20

What's thetroll's her twitter name? this i have to see.

claig · 03/05/2010 09:20

the only boom that Gordon generated was for his banker friends who are still pocketing obscene bonuses. His good friend, Fred the Shred, walked away with a tidy pension. Unfortunately, Gordon bequeathed the bust to us, the ordinary people of the country. Fred the Shred and the other favoured bankers join Gordon in a chorus of "let them eat cake"

DuelingFanjo · 03/05/2010 09:21

"No seriously, where do you live Riven??

Perhaps someone else can tell me?"

Why do you think that anyone here would want to tell you where another mumsnetter lives?

You're being freaky now.

scaryteacher · 03/05/2010 09:22

Scary does not have an 'e' in it. Rather than dismissing what I say, why not address it? If Labour have been so wonderful, then convince me.

I am perfectly serious about you patronising Riven and the rest of us. We are not stupid.

Explain to me the systemic underfunding of defence under Labour as Gordon doesn't 'get' defence - he didn't understand it as Chancellor, and doesn't as PM. Tell me why the office of Secretary of State for Defence was downgraded to a part time post when HM Forces were fighting on two fronts. Can you even begin to comprehend the message that sent out? Tell me why the troops in Afghanistan are dying because there aren't enough helicopters because GB cut the budget. Explain to me why he lied about defence spending rising each year, and then had to retract that in Parliament.

Explain to me Labour's cynical underfunding of state schools in the South West. Why do schools in Devon and Cornwall receive much less per pupil than those schools in Labour strongholds? Plymouth has one of the most deprived wards in Europe, and Cornwall qualified for Objective One funding from the EU because of the income levels, and yet we still get hammered by Labour. Before you say 'yay' for the EU; I have seen it up close and very personal for the past 3 years, and I am even more underwhelmed by it than I was before.

Explain to me the disdain and lack of concern for the rural areas of the UK as exemplified by making the motorist a cash cow for the Government? In some areas there is one bus a day, normally going in the wrong direction, so people have to use their cars to get to work, do their shopping etc. Those on rural communities pay more for their fuel on lower incomes. Care to comment?

I look forward to reading your detailed responses to the issues I've raised; but I'd bet you can't or won't address these things seriously.

claig · 03/05/2010 09:23

Grigsy, you're right. Gordon helped the bankers out, now they will repay him for his generosity in handing over our taxpayer money, by rewarding with a lucrative job at the IMF.

Grigsy · 03/05/2010 09:23

Dear Riven

I was so sorry to hear about the brain damage of your darling baby at birth.

My neighbour who has diabetes had her baby prematurely and now her baby is nearly 3 and wheelchair bound but the love and determination of Zoe and Elodie is just inspirational.

You sound inspirational too.

You have so much love I can tell.

Get to the Zoo now though! I'm supposed to be going to do telephone canvassing but now addicted to this and actually having a bit of crisis of confidence as some of my sisters (HAHA) have told me I need to not be so clumsy etc....argh....what to do?

claig - I don't wish to be rude but some of your pronouncements are tabloid like. I work in the City and I can tell you that Gordon Brown is NOT popular with bankers!!! I can tell you that. The Tories (DC and Osbourne) cuddle up to hedgies (hedge fund managers) and bankers whatever else is said in public.

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 09:26

Grigsy - there yiu go again like a computer that has been switched to "sympathy" mode.

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 09:27

Grigsy looks to be a clever ploy to patronise and out off Labour voters. How clever!

Alouiseg · 03/05/2010 09:28

Grigsy

SanctiMoanyArse · 03/05/2010 09:28

Argh
grigsy I am leftish so would be more likely to have sympathy but

givce up now

Riv'd DD is not 'wheelchair bound'; she can go on teh floor, in her aprents arms- its a silly term

If you want to be aprt of MN and the chat then howdy and welcome but I would suggest starting in the wider MN community tbh

SethStarkaddersMum · 03/05/2010 09:30

nah, I think Grigsy is a cunning plan by MNHQ to restore unanimity to MN when we are in danger of fighting too much about politics.
she is so annoying that both Labour and Conservative voters alike will be united in their irritation.

DuelingFanjo · 03/05/2010 09:30

Interesting how Grigsy how many centre-left people Grigsy are finding Grigsy annoying? Must be from Tory Blogg unit

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 09:33

"political troll" - i like the expression. Notice how she/it/him cleverly signed in as Sarah and then tried to cover up the slip. Very clever faking of Sarah B.

scaryteacher · 03/05/2010 09:33

Even better 'Politrolls'.

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 09:36

Grin Grin

smallorange · 03/05/2010 09:37

Grigsy are you taking the piss? Is this some sort of joke?

Have you had a few sherberts?

claig · 03/05/2010 09:37

well TDiddy, I'm not as clever as you city people who read the Financial Times. It's the big words that get me. It just seemed to me that Gordon was very popular with Fred the Shred, a man that Labour knighted for his services to banking. It just seemed to me that Gordon handed over billions of our pounds without any guarantees that the banks would lend it to struggling businesses and individuals up and down the land. But that's the way the bankers like it. If Gordon is not a friend of the bankers, I dread to think what a more friendly person would have done for them.

Grigsy · 03/05/2010 09:40

OH MY Good giddy aunt! Ladies, please all of you....OK, so I'm a troll, I've spelt Scary wrong, I'm working for the Tory party, I'm Gordon Brown's wife, I'm mad because I think Sarah Brown is like Diana, I'm patronising, I'm according to Duelling Fanjo, oh I can't remember but you know what this feels like? This feels weird to me.

I'm not working for anyone else.

I work for myself.

OK?

I was totally inspired by a talk I went to 2 weeks ago at the Royal Institution in Ablemarle St London given by Gordon Brown. I was inspired by him. OK.

Now I'm just ordinary. I've got nothing to lose by speaking my mind, by connecting my mind to my heart. We do live in cynical times. WE live in times of greed. Do you know what I really want to do right now? I want to go and volunteer in LA, USA. I got married to my husband there in 2004 and that's where we spent our honeymoon. It breaks my heart to think of this environmental catastrophe.

Do you know what else upsets me? OK, so the Tories you all think and want to get back in. Please if they do:

Expect me back, because should Fox Hunting be reintroduced, I will be the Champion of that. Fantastic Mr Fox will not be hunted by disgusting men in red coats on horses with poor misguided beagles hunt down a beautiful sweet playful creature that is the Fox. OK?

Labour were good in power, but we are even better in opposition, so you can walk into the most difficult job in the country if you like, but we'll still all be around. So listen up.

SO, I lasted on Mumsnet for the total of 12 hours. I do feel picked on. So, it's best that I deactivate my account, but hey, at least it got you gals talking.

claig - there you go again with the tabloid utterances. Do you want to start counting the number of disgraced financiers knighted by the Tories? Because Goodwin and Brown are both Scottish then all sorts of insinuations are made by Murdoch's tabloids and repeated by you on this site!
