Did you know under Labour's Watch...

...you got and could still get £250 for your child under their Child Trust Fund Scheme. Did you know that Mums? It was Labour that introduced the Child Trust Fund. So when your child and everyone elses child is 18 they will be able to join the very few elite that we call 'Trustafarians', you know, the ones that don't work for a living?

Did you know that under the 'Coalition of Cuts' that the Tories and Liberals will bring will mean bye, bye to the Child Trust Fund. So, that means, any more children you have will not get a cheque for £250 to put in whatever account you decide for your little miracle. That sucks right?

OK, want more?

Did you know that Maternity Leave has been extended to 9 months...from 6 months. But did you also know that after 6 months, parents can decide who takes the 3 months. So on top of the Labour's initiative of Paternity Leave (which has been extended to a month now rather than just 2 weeks) - Dad's can have 3 months with their babies when they are between 6-9 months old. How fab is that?! For everyone....yippee, some much needed siesta time for tired Mums...

Under a Labour Government, should we be so lucky, guess what....they want to extend the Maternity Leave to eventually get to 12 months...that's cool.

Also, hope you are all enjoying the reduced Nursery fees that you probably noticed after your child turned 3. Well guess what, that was also under Labour's watch. My fees for my daughter were £457 per month when she was 2. When she was 3 they were £238 per month. I'm delighted. But should the Tories get in, they plan to introduce 'Top Up Fees', so it will be Goodbye Grant and Hello, I'm skint.

Look, you are welcome to join my debate but please before you do, put aside your pre-conceptions and perhaps even get all 3 parties manifestos. You can do this by going online and go to their respective official sites. To be honest, after looking at all 3 my findings were this:

Nick Clegg, Nice but Dim (sorry), it is almost as if they wrote their policies on the back of an envelope at a dinner party. They mean well but seriously we need substance right now. Look at what's going on in Greece. Who do you want to guide us through these harsh times of austerity? We need prudence not wishy washy policies of some man who seems perfectly nice, but seriously, we are talking about the toughest job in the country. And it's not paid as well as you think. Infact, Gordon Brown took a cut of 1/4 of his salary. Sometimes I wonder, has Nick Clegg actually seen a Job Description for the Prime Minister!!

David Cameron - OK, he's got the gift of the gab but think it's very important to remind ourselves of what and who the Tories actually are. If interested, go to You Tube, and watch COMMON PEOPLE 2010.

Gordon Brown - well, as I said before. Here is a man of substance. Here is an unsung hero. Here is a quiet man with a big agenda. Modest, kind, truthful and a human being of the greatest integrity. He is a good man. Why don't you just look at his wife. Sarah Brown. She is a gentle, kind, serene and entirely beautiful woman. She is also highly intelligent and inspirational in many charities and other very important areas. But above all, Gordon and Sarah Brown are parents. They truly care. They know how important the first 48 months of a childs life is. If you don't buy me, then why not find out for yourself. Go onto the Labour Party Offical site. And watch him in action.

Off for a hot bath now

Ta-ra

Happy Bank Holiday!!!

posieparker - you didn't ask me for advice but I would like to say that the Tories are about looking after better off people- I would benefit from a Tory govt personally but I don't trust them to be fair with their VAT increases affecting the poor and then giving away Inheritance tax decreases to the better off.

Personally, I think that it makes sense to vote for the candidate most likely to beat the Tory candidate. I am no Tory hater, I like DC and would benefit but I can't see them being fair to the less well off.

scaryteacher · 03/05/2010 08:57

And....don't be so bloody patronising to Riven either. If you were a regular you would know about the struggles she has as a carer for her dd.

Grigsy · 03/05/2010 08:58

Riven

I haven't seen Gordon for 10 years.

I was in a crowd yesterday and it was just fabulous to hear his voice.

BUt if it is Gordon you want to see, well I will fix it for you somehow.

Where are you?

I think Grigsy must be Tory party computer to put off Labour voters

Grigsy · 03/05/2010 09:01

Dear Riven

I'm getting a lot of stick here because Scarey Teacher (that's her name and that's her game), says I'm patronising you!

Is she serious?

Sorry if I was. That's not what I'm about. I will do what I can, just let me know where you live....

The other thing is I'm just new to Mumsnet so I'm not sure of the meanings of some of the shortenings such as dh etc. But let's try and get together and talk.

Lots of love

Sarah

Sarah - you write so touchingly about your husband Gordon!

Chil1234 · 03/05/2010 09:03

If you have an uncynical mind and if you think everyone you're dealing with in the Labour party is in it for purely altruistic reasons then you are in the wrong field.

BTW... 'he wanted to pay me because he is a fair man'.... but he actually got away with getting you to work for nothing. Now you see they call that 'worker exploitation' anywhere else... that should make anyone cynical

GoingPostal · 03/05/2010 09:04

"listen" "look" "hey"

Are you Tony Blair OP?

please stop with the patronising posts. you aren't going to influence anyone's vote you know.

DuelingFanjo · 03/05/2010 09:07

This thread is creepy.

I am quite scared about what is going to happen if the Consrvatives get in, particularly as I am pregnant and don't look forward to any cuts RE childcare, but threads like this just make me want to turn off the internet and head for the hills.

I really hate the patronising tone of the thread. Anyone would think that the OP assumes she is talking to a load of stupid and uneducated inbreds rather than to the smart and intelligent collection of women (and men) we all know are on Mumsnet.

DuelingFanjo · 03/05/2010 09:08

Infact, I wonder if this is a Conservative who thinks they are being really clever by being so patronising that we all get so turned off and vote consevative instead.

Definitely not Gordon's wife, for sure. She's not that thick.

smallorange · 03/05/2010 09:10

Our CTF has actually lost money. Inghink it's worth about half of what it was.

Anyway Gordon Brown, what a brilliant chap! In thrall to the City, happy to let bankers make hay on a wave of bad credit, and still pay each othr huge bonuses, out of OUR money, no more boom and bust? You must be fucking joking.

It's your children who will be paying for this financial crisis, it is they who will suffer the resulting cuts to education, health services etc Not Gordon Brown.

But hey he's renewing Trident do at least I know my kids will be safe with nuclear subs going up and fown yhe Clyde, just a few miles away.

Anyway am a tired Mum, off to chillax in the kitchen, stacking the dishwasher.

Cheers!

We saw the other day that Gordon has contempt for the views of core Labour voters like Mrs. Duffy. He knows best and cannot be bothered with the misguided views of ordinary people. Grigsy seems to be of the same patronising "let them eat cake" viewpoint.

SethStarkaddersMum · 03/05/2010 09:13

yawn @ the tedious patronising political troll

Alouiseg · 03/05/2010 09:14

Dear Grigsy....Until that inept twat Gordon Brown reveals how deep the shit is that he got us into there is no point discussing policies.

The man spent all of our money and borrowed even more. In a time of record growth when he should have been tucking some under the mattress for a rainy day he was spending like a footballers wife in Cricket.

He's had the last 13 years to show us the goodies, instead he's faffed around increasing peoples dependency on the state.

He claimed to have ended boom and bust!!!!! He sold the Uk's gold, he has taken away the option of higher education for lots of families whilst simultaneously degrading the value of a degree. The man is an absolute disgrace and should be arrested for his wilful negligence of his fiduciary duty.

He cannot afford any more maternity leave, any more sure start centres any more child trust funds because he's a fag paper away from insolvency.

If he returns to power after the election Sterling will effectively be downgraded and our record breaking debt will cost us even more to repay.

We need a change, we need to pay off the debt and we need money back in the bank.

Gordon's had his chance and blown it!

Dear Posie Parker

Thanks for your message. Firstly, please excuse me if I'm not totally familiar with the abbreviations, but let's see:

Firstly, looks like you are a pretty amazing woman. You have 4 children? Phew. That is impressive. God, I've got my hands totally full with one 3 year old.

So 2 of your kids are at a State Primary? And one in Montessuri Nursery (that's pricey I bet!?) and one going to Pre School? I really think you should find a nursery that operates the Government Grant so that will mean when your child is 3 you will get a rebate/grant. I live in Kilburn, London and was over the moon because last year, Luella was 2 and it was £457 per month but now, we pay £238. I'm chuffed about that.

So, your husband pays 40% tax but doesn't pay 50% because he is under the threshold? Are you saying that he is de-motivating from getting a payrise as he doesn't want to pay tonnes of tax?

Um, well, I'm not really a Politician or anything not even an Electioner because like everyone has pointed out, I'm getting my facts jumbled, but what I do know about is business as I am a working from home mum and all I can say to you on that front is:

GO FOR IT, your Children's Importing CLothes business sounds great. There are lots of opportunities for you. Here's where I would start:

  1. Buy Lynne Frank's Book 'Seeds'

  2. Don't waste money on a website, just go to mrsite.co.uk and buy one on line they give you the domain name etc and it's great because you can make your own site. Check out mine: www.nostalchick.com

  3. Get someone to invest £5000 in you. That's what I started with in 2006 when I launched my greeting card business at Pulse in 2006. Actually, the best one is Spring Top Drawer in January 2011. There, that's something to aim for.

  4. Get some PR. I was in the November issue of Red Magazine, and will be in the June issue of Elle Decoration coming out next week, eek, I hope I don't look too fat in the photo I didn't dare look at any of the photos....enough of that, seriously what you need to remember is that in times of recession and hard times, the people who have the passion and creativity and ideas are those that don't stop and you sound like one of them. You'll be rewarded, just do it! Go for it.

  5. GOOD LUCK!

Lots of love

Sarah

OMG, she compares Sarah Brown to princess Diana on Twitter! The mind boggles!

Grigsy · 03/05/2010 09:17

Claig, no he won't because if as you think he won't get voted in, he will be snapped up by the IMF or another top job in the global community so now is the time to get Gordon. He's your captive audience.

SethStarkaddersMum · 03/05/2010 09:18

I do love the fact that Grigsy has such a low opinion of the intelligence of MNers that she comes on here and gives advice to Riven on how to deal with her dd's condition
