National Debt explanation 19m 20s into the recording
I've posted this link on a few other threads but thought it was worth its own. Politicians of all colours are being understandably reticent to give us the full story but Radio 4's resident statistician Tim Harford distills it down to some very easy to understand BS-free terms in the above link.
e.g. The typical household income after tax is £20,500. Government borrowing is the equivalent of a typical household borrowing more than £6000 per year. Listen on.
