"Why do I understand the Offside Rule better than First Past The Post? "

Because football is an important part of everyday life where as politics is just a silly distraction?

Yay! I've really tried honest to understand... and i just don't get it.

my DH explained in words of one syllable that if we had PR there would be more 'hung parliaments' as noone would get a majority easily...

and i say...bring it on... if the people want to vote for The Monster Raving Loony Party etc...and Liberal....and Green ...and Cons...and Labour etc... and each party had a couple of 'seats'... then that would be what the people voted for...

would make much more interesting TV.

It depends what you want from your government, do you want them to be able to get Bills through parliament quite easily or have to horse trade with other parties over everything?

Yes, it would stop a lot of idiotic stuff like I.D cards getting through but then it could also stop a lot of what people consider good things getting through.

Imagine if tax credits were on the agenda and enough MP's could band together to stop them, then we wouldn't have had tax credits.

We have a terrible history in this country of political parties working together and you only have to look at the tv debate where GB was almost begging NC to agree with him against DC and he wouldn't.

It would also open the door for the BNP to gain seats.

Atlantis, we have PR in Wales for the Assembly, and plenty gets done (not that I agree with all of it!).

Yep, I know and I'm not saying that it can't or doesn't work, i'm just pointing out what it can mean to us if we had a hung parliament.

Let's be honest, can we really see gordon working with Nick , or Dave working with Nick in happy harmony? You might as well just get Gordon and Dave to try to work together and cut out Nick completely, because both of them don't believe in PR.
