The Sun/The Times for sale at tube stations

just wanted to mention an interesting ancedote (I think anyway!) from this morning..

got on at my usual tube station this morning out in the sticks (zone 6) and got off at my usual near work station (also a quiet/ off beaten track station zone 4) and at both were newspaper vendors selling The Times and The Sun.

I have been commuting for 15 years and never ever ever has any newspaper been sold outside my home/ work station before. Free metro is in a stand for people to get if they want.

I can only assume this is a new strategy of a hard push of both these Murdoch papers to commuters.

I am pleased to report vendors bag was full adn I did not see anyone buying them.

They frequently stand outside Oxford Circus doing the same.

The Independent have been giving out free election specials where I live, I like that!

They're sold on street corners in Glasgow by vendors, and have been for ages. Not many takers, though!

Now the sub-post office and the newsagent have both closed, only places around here are a couple of the supermarkets and perhaps a petrol station (don't drive, don't know what they sell these days).

200 miles to a tube station, so no info from me on that score

they've been selling them at ours for ages
