do you stick with the devil you know or take a chance and vote lib dems? I just scared that it will be a wasted vote and help the Tories get in.

It depends on your constituency. In ours there is very little chance that anyone other than the Tories will get in. So I don't think it really matters - I will vote for whoever I prefer, not tactically.

Of course a Liberal Democrat vote is not a wasted vote. It's just crap spouted by their opponents to put voters off.

Over half the constituencies in the country are "safe seats" meaning a vote for anybody other than the incumbent doesn't go towards electing an MP. I wouldn't consider it a waste, though, but a statement of your opinion.

If the Liberal Democrats do get 30% of the vote on 6 May there will have to be some change to the electoral system to make it fairer.

As Orm says, it varies from one constituency to another. If you are in one which is almost certainly "safe" for whoever holds it now, then your vote is very unlikely to make any difference. Mine is like that, so I will definitely vote for who I want, not tactically.

But if you are in a "marginal" seat, then your vote is more likely to make a difference - so, say your constituency was quite balanced between Labour and Conservative, and you voted LibDem, then you are still likely to get either a Labour or Conservative MP. If you had strong feelings about which of them you don't want, then voting for the "least worst" might make sense.
