UKIP want us out of the EU, I love Europe can't stand the EU.We pay 40 million a day to them
1)72% of our laws are now made in Brussells, from fuel taxes, farming, fishing and immigration.
2)We pay £40 million a day to be in the EU.
3)The Two richest countries in Europe-Norway and Switzerland are not even in the EU.
4)Under labour we now have 3.5 million extra people living in this country. We need proper border controls. Nick Cleggs policy is to count people in and out of the country, and force them to work in 'regions' totally unworkable. UKIP would keep our proud tradition of helping genuine asylum seekers.
5)UKIP does not appear to be anti-christian as do the other parties. The labour parties spin doctor Alistair Campbell said they "don't do God!" I do.
6)UKIP believes in holding referendums for the electorate on key local and international issues. I like this.
7)Crime is now out of contol, UKIP would build more prisons. Last but not least, Lord Pearson (leader) is 'posh' and does not try to hide it.

CINNAMONTOAST. COSYING UP TO SUNTANGIRL. If by cosying up to others on this site, is giving them the facts, then yes I've cosied up to most of the threads! Apart from Coolfonz a nice enough geezer, but very imsulting.

Cinnamontoast. Get your spelling right, otherwise you will be castigated by COOLFONZ.
Probably not as I think he picks his victims well. Get on the naughty step!

crystal - not all faith schools have a non-faith allocation. Our local ones don't. 100% of the children are baptised Catholics whose parents attend church every week. Same situation with most faith schools in London. It makes no difference whether I want her to be educated in a faith school or not. It's her local school. She is effectively excluded from her local state school for not being part of a particular Christian sect/denomination. The same situation is being played out all over the country. So forgive me if I find your tales of Christian persecution utterly laughable. It's utter, utter nonsense.

sungirltan · 22/04/2010 11:18

thing is though, crystal and fwiw i felt bad foe that nurse is that these are examples of religious prejudice, not racial or ethnic. what is english culture that you think is so precious? and don't give me any guff about flags. theres a st george cross flag on a house next gto the station where i live. been there months with no complaints. also when the (yawn) world cup starts they will be everywhere anyway.

crystal123 · 22/04/2010 11:27

Droughin. Now you have stopped me going out,
I do empathise with you, and you should have more good schools to send your daughter too.
Their is a lack of good schools across the country, but I still believe that if you have a faith, then you should be top of the list for faith schools, I'm sure you're aware that many parents attend Church just to get children into Church schools, but schools have smelt a rat, and now insist that families have to attend church some years previously and attended the ALPHA course which I have. I know many parents in your shoes, and it's an awful situation. Good luck in getting your child into the school of her choice. (I would say a pray for you, but I might end up in court!)

SUNTANGIRL: I won't bore others with a narrative on how great the British/English culture is, many books have been written about it. If you don't think this countries culture is so great, why are you here? Many thousands, no millions of immigrants arrive on these wonderful shores just because we are a great nation, tolerant, hospitable and caring. George Orwell once said"British Socialists are the only Socialists who hate their own country". I think you're one of them. I love this country and have a strong sense of my own identity, shame you have'nt.

Agree totally with ZephirineDrouhin. We were banned from applying to most of our local primary schools because they are Christian and we are not.

And lets not forget the 26 unelected Bishops in the House of Lords. There solely because they are Chrisitan.

I'll feel a bit mor sympathy with the 'Christians are a persuceted minority' line when there's some actual evidence that it happens rather than Daily Mailesque misreporting.

ZephirineDrouhin · 22/04/2010 11:38

crystal, the issue is not faith schools, (so I won't get into a discussion here about the negative effects that faith schools with exclusive admissions policies tend to have on their neighbouring community schools), the issue is your assertion that Christians are being in some way penalised for being Christians in this country. The situation with faith schools is just a very obvious manifestation of why this is a ludicrous notion.

daftpunk · 22/04/2010 12:25

Slug;

You wouldn't be able to get into a Jewish school either, or a Muslim one...does that bother you..?

slug · 22/04/2010 12:31

It's not the Jews who are complaining that they are discriminated against. And anyway, I'm firmly opposed to all faith schools.

ZephirineDrouhin · 22/04/2010 12:31

Any state school that is excluding pupils on cultural or religious grounds is part of the problem. But there are far, far more Christian schools than Jewish or Muslim ones.

daftpunk · 22/04/2010 12:34

Of course there are, that's because we're a christian country.

slug · 22/04/2010 12:41

Speak for yourself

crystal123 · 22/04/2010 12:42

CINNAMONONTOAST. Your thread states "too cross to spell properly" Why are you losing your temper with words on a page, written by someone you don't even know? Sounds daft to me. I fear for your health, you may suffer from high blood pressure and do yourself a mischief/kick the bucket, and then what would I do? I would miss the banter, my "cosying up" etc; and as for you, being an atheist, you wouldn't go to heaven, but presumably would haunt the internet airways/chatrooms, searching for some solace, but unfortunately you would find "no room at the inn" because like your other freinds on this site who hate our British culture, the great majority would not accept you, but you might fight mates floating around the EU!

OP posts:
daftpunk · 22/04/2010 12:47

Slug;

Are you saying that because you can't get into your local faith school you want all faith schools banned..?

That's a bit harsh.

crystal123 · 22/04/2010 12:48

Slug. Please see my past posts, pointing you in the direction for discrimination towards Christains, reports in the Times, Telegraph etc. Or visit the website I have suggested.

OP posts:
ZephirineDrouhin · 22/04/2010 12:49

Or just possibly it's because they are discriminatory and divisive.

slug · 22/04/2010 12:52

What Zephirine said.

You can't convince me that having 26 bishops in the House of Lords equates with Christians being discriminated against.

daftpunk · 22/04/2010 12:55

But Zeph, by banning all faith schools you would be discriminating against religious people. I'm not a muslim, but I have no problem with them having their own schools.

Perhaps I'm just more accepting and tolerant than you are...?

crystal123 · 22/04/2010 12:59

Droughin."Divisive" Now,now, I was nice to you, but now fear I will have to take the boxing gloves off. Faith schools are just that, faith schools! Not divisive, just have a strong moral compass, good education, (some of the best in the country) Perhaps you should have found God like me, and you wouldn't be in this pickle. I've been a Christian for years and years....ho, hum, bring my children up with respect for others
etc; I know it boring and traditional to have all these values, but hey that's the kind of Crystal I am. Go on the ALPHA course may help you out!

OP posts:
ZephirineDrouhin · 22/04/2010 13:02

No need to ban faith schools. Just put all state funded schools on a level playing field when it comes to admissions policies, so they all go through the LEA with the same criteria. The current system of supplementary forms, registers at church and letters from priests is just nuts.

ZephirineDrouhin · 22/04/2010 13:05

crystal, I am pretty well-versed in Christianity actually. And strangely enough I also bring my children up to respect others etc. I just don't like to see blatant discrimination in the provision of public services.
