Help - how do I know if I am registered to vote?

I moved house recently (beginning of December) and filled in the electoral register thing and sent it off weeks ago, but I don't know if I should be expecting anything back in the post or not. I have not voted before so I don't know how it works, but don't you need a voting card or something?

I have had a letter from my local Tory candidate which said "I have noticed from the electoral register that you have recently moved..." - so I assume that I am on it. I have been on aboutmyvote.co.uk and it said on there to contact my local council to check, which is fine, but I am without a phone at the moment and by the time I get a chance to/around to going there in person it will probably be too late!

You need to contact the Electoral Registration Officer to see if you are registered at your new address. If not, you may be able to vote at your old address if you are still registered there.

The Electoral Commission or your local councils electoral department.
My local council confirmed I am on the register via email.

You have until April 20th to get on the electoral register if you're not there already.

We've moved recently and filled out the form etc. I rang the Council yesterday and the switchboard person was able to confirm it for me!
