not as in top secret Mumsnet-politrolling ops as in the other thread - I was just wondering how many people here did general delivering/canvassing etc.

I'm a Lib Dem and did quite a lot while I was still in the UK - not since I moved abroad, though (and had DD - although I like to think that if I were in the UK still I'd manage to do at least something post-DD). I'm now feeling a bit out of touch and guilty.

There probably are a few councillors, but they probably don't hang out here for fun!

It's something I'd have liked to have done, although I can see it takes a pretty brutal toll in terms of time in order to be a good one (and I'm so not organised enough). But you're giving your children a great example.

I'm on the 'verge' of it
Am a member of the local party, and have been involved with a few activities, but I haven't completely 'gone for it' yet - partly 'cos I have such a lot of other stuff going on right now (own business, elderly relative needing help, builders in ) that I know I can't afford to be sucked into what would certainly be very time-consuming.

I used to want to be a councillor (and an MP!) but in the last couple of years I've looked at the way the media has treated all of them, and I just don't think I would be willing to inflict that sort of scrutiny and pressure on my (young) family...

Could still consider it in the future though. I was very active at Uni....so it's in the blood!
