Pollsters reckon this is the new Essex Man / Worcester Woman for the 2010 general elections. Key components;

  1. He lives in a new-build house, somewhere in the midlands or the south-east, which is convenient for the 'motorway network' hence the name.

  2. Likes reading magazines or instruction manuals, but rarely books.

  3. Works full time in a middle management type role, wife usually works part-time or not at all.

  4. Hobbies include wathcing and playing sport, DIY and computer games.

  5. Colonises McDonalds, Parks and Swimming Pools during the weekend as part of the 'quality time with kids' routine so beloved of working dads.

  6. Aspires to double garage, conservatory and bigger tv.

  7. Kids educated in local state schools, which tend to be good hence house prices, reason for move etc.

  8. Likely to be thinning on top and developing a paunch.

Ring any bells? The future of the country is in their 'place an X by your preferred candidate' hands.....

Just a nickname for a demographic the media and pollsters have identified as holding the key to victory in the general election.

The ad/marketing men have them down as having the attributes listed above.

Makes me laugh, tbh.[laugh]

My next door neighbour posseses every one the traits listed; I think I should warn him to put a "No political canvassers" sign on his doorstep.

Or, more cleverly, find out how he voted and then straightway call the tv studios in London on election night to tell the news anchors, so that they can call the result.
