Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I think youre overcomplicating the Brexit vote. It mostly all boils down to facts rather than Russian bots. People either felt one side or the other was for them.

Do you like freedom of movement?

Do you want ever closer union with the ultimate goal being political union with the EU (and therefore the euro)?

Do you prefer your laws to be all made in Parliament and Parliamnet has supremacy or are you happy that our laws are made in Europe?

Do you want to pay large sums in membership fees in order to support poorer members

People will have felt an affinity for either side and voted accordingly. Based on a factual scenario. Not Russian bots. Although they are a convenient excuse for Andy B to try and resurrect this issue, I'll give him that.

This 100 %

Do you like freedom of movement?
In essence, yes.

I donโ€™t see union and collaboration as a bad thing. Not fussed on what currency I buy bread in.

Do you prefer your laws to be all made in Parliament and Parliamnet has supremacy or are you happy that our laws are made in Europe?
I had absolutely no issue with oversight - if Nigel Farage was in power for example, Iโ€™d be begging for someone to have โ€œsupremacyโ€ over his decision making.

Do you want to pay large sums in membership fees in order to support poorer members
Within reason, yes. The same could apply to us if we needed support, Iโ€™d value having it available.

I'm pretty sure a GE will focus minds. All three right wing parties, and the majority of the UK, know we simply can't tolerate another 5 years of this socialist nonsense. The numbers are there and they will consolidate when it matters.

Come on. Even the most blinded people con see that the right wing government has failed to improve the lives for the majority, the country and only the wealthy came out of the years of tory rule (much) better off.

It amazes me that people don't look at the media more and think, I wonder why the majority of media is run by very wealthy people who want to keep the right wing in? Could it be because I think the right wing government is likely to improve the lives of ordinary people, or is it because that will make them and their associates much richer?

Thank you for completing the quiz. I can announce the the result of the quiz for you is you should vote "Rejoin".

The "right wing government " since Blair has been more Blairism not conservatism. Im really hoping Kemi is going back to proper conservatism.

If proper Conservatism is a government like Majorโ€™s I couldnโ€™t agree more. Sadly the signs arenโ€™t promising.

Well according to the former MI6 chief there is. I think he probably knows better than any of us.

No. There was no interference in the ballot.

Theres no reason for AB to resurrect this issue.

BIossomtoes · 13/10/2026 09:01

Nobodyโ€™s said there was interference in the ballot.

This is a straw man argument.

That's not the point, not what is being discussed.

Other countries always try and influence a vote. Look at thosd Labour party members that went over to the US to try and influence the election there. What MI6 said was that there was no evidence the Brexit vote was influenced. So why is AB raising the issue? To cast doubt on tne outcome. Incorrectly. Which is why he and his cabinet members have now had to "clarify" his position. Again.

EEexpat · 13/10/2026 09:14

@blossomtoes

Thatโ€™s what youโ€™ve inferred, it doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s correct. Itโ€™s perfectly obvious that we need closer links with the EU, the damage to the UK economy is undeniable.

What damage? UK has grown more than, France, Germany and Italy since COVID. Immigration is lower than, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. US tariffs on the UK are lower than the EU.

The UK services sector, which is over 80% of UK employment and GDP. has grown since Brexit (Source ONS)

Watch the BBC Queston Time episode 24 September 2026. The panelists, Andrew Niel (Journalist), Ash Sakar, remain voter and Jonathon Reynolds, Labour and remain voter, all explained why the UK should not rejoin the EU.

If immigration is lower, that just makes the constant debate around it even sillier IMO.

I actually donโ€™t believe we should rejoin. I think the result was wrong, and we shouldnโ€™t have left, but we live in a democracy and that vote meant we had to leave and IMO stay out.

I donโ€™t believe we should get into the habit of undoing things that were democratically decided, even if I donโ€™t agree with the outcome.

The economic damage that just about every economist agrees on.

EEexpat · 13/10/2026 10:36

@BIossomtoes

The economic damage that just about every economist agrees on.

Measured data, or estimated based on theoretical, and often flawed, models?

Don't forget how wrong the so-called economic experts were in the run up to the 2016 referendum. The 500,000 to 800,000 job losses never appeared. In fact, unemployment declined from 2015 to 2024 until Labour increased the cost to employ people. The emergency budget never happened,

More significantly, UK had grown faster than the major EU countries since Brexit. So, if Brexit has damaged the UK, why are, France, Germany and Italy not doing better?

What is the World event that has affected, France, Germany and Italy, but not the UK which has prevented them from not growing faster than the UK?

BIossomtoes · 13/10/2026 10:47

Oh weโ€™re back to who needs experts now. This discussion is pointless.

Have you actually looked at what the findings of tbe secret services were? They determined Russian interference had no material effect on the Brexit vote.

But what the Russians did affect was the Scottish independence campaign. Although they were on the side of the SNP so it didnt work.

With attitudes like that, it's a wonder that attempted murder is even a thing.

EEexpat · 13/10/2026 13:22

@JuliaMaesa

Poor comparison. A definition of attempted murder is

Attempted murder is said to have occurred when a person does an act which is โ€˜more than merely preparatoryโ€™ to the commission of the offence of murder and where that person has the intent to kill the complainant. In other words, attempted murder refers to a situation where an individual does an act, intending to kill the complainant, but either fails to do so or where the act is aborted part way.

Burnham has said there is no evidence the results of the referendum was impacted. ie no harm taken.
