When & how will Burnham’s honeymoon come to an end?

Burnham’s leadership has been relatively free of drama, so far, and certainly when compared to his hapless predecessor.

What do we think will represent Burnham’s first real test? The budget, or something else?

Can you give examples of this daily growing evidence?

In other words no, given the response you’ve got.

You can search online for your own evidence, if you so choose. I'm not wasting my time spoon feeding you.

You can't provide the information, that is fine. Just say so.

Fair. I just looked to see what you mean, will see how that goes for him.

Biscuitman99 · 11/10/2026 12:45

This Man City thing is no a matter for politics it is a matter for the premier league to deal with
the government should leave it as such

BIossomtoes · 11/10/2026 12:27

Unlikely because it all happened before he became Mayor. Leese and Bernstein are going to take responsibility for this.

You know very well that's not the case.

It's a case of the more you dig, the more you find.

Then surely you’d share your findings, wouldn’t you? If you want to convince us.

8 per cent mortgage rates

All depends where you dig.

I assume it is mud slinging otherwise you would post the daily growing evidence

Artic Vortex if it happens

What about them?

What does an arctic vortex have to do with Andy Burnham?

Raiderofthelostbattenburg · 11/10/2026 13:29

The obvious answer to when his honeymoon period will end, is when people will think there is a viable alternative, and at the moment I just don’t think most people think there is one. I know polls only tell you so much, but on “who would make best Prime Minister”, Andy Burnham is leading by 21 points. That’s really significant. I just don’t think his political opponents have found an attack line that resonates with the public, and TBH I think it would be better if they stopped trying and focussed on setting out a positive, pragmatic offer of their own.

A combination of tax rises to fund more benefits for their supporters, fuel crise, increasing interest rates and a cold snap will do for him.

hedgeknight · 11/10/2026 13:39

I am interested in which news sources you get that from but suspect you won't tell me.

A combination of tax rises to fund more benefits for their supporters, fuel crise, increasing interest rates and a cold snap will do for him.

But the public are not stupid, they fully understand that it is the war in Iran driving the fuel crisis, and with it interest rates. Of course they want a Prime Minister and a government to get a grip on the big issues and support them through a difficult winter, but at the moment, nothing that the opposition are saying has persuaded the public they’d be better at dealing with those issues.

Possibly. The ‘I get it’ post went down like a lead balloon after the chummy vibe ones.

There aren’t going to be any of the first and the last three are beyond his control. Anything else?

Justinthekitchen · 11/10/2026 23:40

Judging by the woeful performance of the UK economy, our national debt and deficit, and the lack of ability or desire to control borrowing, curb benefits, or initiate growth, Burnham's honeymoon, and most likely career as PM, will come to an end once the bond markets confirm the suspicion that he is way out of his depth (a man without a plan), and the IMF inevitably have to step in to bail us out.

BIossomtoes · 11/10/2026 23:59

Oh dear, the IMF threat again. They were supposed to be here by last Christmas, I wonder what’s holding them up? Obviously they’re going to have to stop off at Italy, France and the US en route.

frogpigdonkey · 12/10/2026 00:16

Bond crash and energy spike. His 70s socialist agenda will wither in the face of economic reality

You don't understand basic economics do you?
