How will the government plans of devolution and bringing growth to every postcode affect house prices? Won’t house prices go up everywhere making the housing crisis worse

In the most positive reading from Burnham's speech I would hope very area improves. At the same time as council, housing and affordable housing are also built. This will keep prices level.
Hopefully, devolution won't stop it at council level, but will be brought down to community level. This will mean more neighbourhoods develop and grow positively.

What you don't want is for devolution, just to go to a local authority level. But you want it to go to a neighbourhood and community level. Otherwise, it might cause
Price rises in houses without scooping up those that need support the most.

Anywhere there is more demand, created by more money & jobs, house prices will rise.

However, I'd wait for the growth in jobs to materialise before you start to worry about house prices. Saying something, and achieving it on more than a very local level, are two different things.

Why will devolution bring up house prices? Having Keith from the council acting like king of the hill with too much power to enact increasingly crazy ideas (a la Wales and Scotland) will surely drive everyone to London where people know what they are doing because they’ve at least got experience with what they are doing?! I am expecting my house value in the midlands to go down or stagnate tbh. 😱

i can't really see how devolution would result in higher houses prices across the country. Currently the areas with more devolution have lower house prices. I think it will create pockets of prosperity where you get really good local councils.

So are you suggesting that the government shouldn’t try to bring growth to areas that have lagged behind because that might increase house prices? That’s an odd take.

I wouldn’t worry, there will not be growth in every postcode.

Hahaha, threat of devolution has opposite effect in Scotland. . Don’t worry about it.

i hope prosperity is shared across the whole of the UK, but I do not expect it.

Devolution wont have any effect on house prices. Laughable that anyone would think that it would.
