A YouTube video of Nigel Farage’s face when he realises that he has been beaten by a man who put a bin on his head is a treat we all deserve when we have had a bad day.

I'm petty sure that the candidates all get told the result privately backstage before it is formally announced, so I'd bet the farm that if Binface wins then Nigel would walk out rather than stand on stage in front of everyone. Mind you that would also make entertaining viewing!

It seemed to come as a shock to Portillo all those years ago

I don't know exactly when it started happening. I just remember reading about it being the protocol in Ed Balls autobiography, which did explain why he didn't seem to be as shocked as I was when he lost his seat in 2015.

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 09/07/2026 09:02

I would dearly love to see Binface win.
Please make it happen!

Cheeseandolivesplease · 09/07/2026 09:25

Love that Farage's arrogance is well and truly biting him on the bum!
Shame it doesn't happen to more arrogant men in life!! 😀

Count Binface is an Oxbridge educated liberal elitist who works as a scriptwriter and comedian. He promises to build one affordable house, demolish the Dome/O2 and replace it with a nature reserve. So I’m not sure which idiot I’d prefer if I lived in Clacton.

BoredZelda · 09/07/2026 09:34

Wherever he stands, he finds local issues that affect local people. Right down to moving the hand dryer in the gents toilets in the Crown and Treaty pub. In Makersfield he pledged to re-phase the lights on a local road. Anyone who doesn’t live in an area but takes time to find out what they really care about would get my vote.

overunderover · 09/07/2026 09:35

No, he's far too serious for me.

I'd run against him and split the silly vote.

Define “liberal elitist”?

What makes Farage not “elitist”?

Farage is the establishment. This is him trying to avoid scrutiny and an attempt at the establishment to regain control.

It's a sad fact that our democracy allows these people to become MPs. It shows the strength of our democracy but highlights it's weakness as we grapple the lies and hate being spread on social media that has allowed Farage to become so popular.

Keir Starmer has been forced out of number 10 largely thanks to this man, hounded by his underhand tactics and now he's complaining about scrutiny.

Thankfully there has been cooperation from the conservatives and we may get a chance to lock up Farage and hunt down reform funders and cut off the head before the next election.

I don’t deny that Starmer hasn’t been treated well by the media, but I think suggesting it’s all down to Farage is a bit wide of the mark. There are so many things Starmer failed at, he was as much a part of his own demise as anything else. He did make it very easy for his opponents to pull him down.

Yes - I always vote tactically and this would be no different.

ClovisWrites · 09/07/2026 10:09

I think this whole 'Boaty McBoatFace' style of humour is a bit overdone and a bit cringe. So no.

Yes - I always vote tactically and this would be no different.

I never do. You should vote for the candidate who would be best for your constituency.

In reality though, I think we tend to vote for the party.

If I were in a constituency with an excellent MP but from a party I wasn't entirely keen on, I would vote for that candidate.

Had I been living in Maidenhead when Count Binface stood, I'd have been tempted to vote for him because although Mrs May was a great MP, she was in a safe seat and would have won anyway.
I've never voted Conservative in my life.

Cyclebabble · 09/07/2026 10:26

In an instant. Imagine Farage's face when offered a handshake with the bin after he looses..comedy gold. Please let this happen

I disagree - we now have a multiparty system but have an electoral process that is designed for a two-party system. So in the absence of PR, voting tactically makes perfect sense if you want to avoid wasting your vote.

Even in a bye election, voting against rather than for a specific candidate is a valid choice.

Whereas I think it's exactly what the country needs at the moment.

I'm looking forward to the interview where someone asks Adele whether or not she's up for being nationalised.

CozzieG · 09/07/2026 13:42

I really don't think Farage has represented Clacton in any way since being elected, he's let them down and is also being investigated for fraud. I've never believed Reform really have the people at their heart. We need unity and Count Binface might be the tonic we all need right now. He's certainly dedicated to democracy and his role, and is both funny and intelligent.
Come on Clacton, do it for the people!

I’m tempted to help canvas for Mr bin face!

He's already been contacted by dozens of people offering to canvas and leaflet!
Vote Bin to put Farage in the Bin!

Make you vote Count!

I hope people dont! The people of Clacton deserve better than a joke vote

They do.

NF has done nothing for them in two years and has a poor attendance and voting record. They dont deserve a joke vote. Vote Binface! Who, whilst having a current day job as a comedian and writer says, if he got the job, would treat it seriously.

Didnt hurt the Ukraine!

And it will put Clacton on the world map if he does win as the story will go global.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/07/2026 09:57

danglethedingle · 08/07/2026 19:40

I think he is a good option as a protest 'none of the above' vote. But would he be happy to actually become an MP if enough people in Clacton thought the same?

Edited to add would he have to wear his bin head in parliament? He could have a ceremonious de-binning if he ever lost his seat.

Edited

He has said he would, and would move to Clacton.

I mean, the moment you accuse someone of being a 'liberal elitist', you've already lost the argument.

It basically means 'educated, in possession of a modicum of intelligence and has some morals'.
