If I lived in Clacton I absolutely would! 😀

@Ineffable23 He wouldn't go ahead with the by-election (which would mean he wouldn't be an MP). He could still be party leader.

For “party” read “company”.

NeverLookInTheMirror · 08/07/2026 23:29

Is it too late to move to Clackton so I can register to vote there?

TheyGrewUp · 08/07/2026 23:38

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 08/07/2026 22:52

I would be willing to travel to Clacton to campaign for Binface if I thought it would help!

Me too.

Mumoftwoteenagers · 08/07/2026 21:54

Weirdly yes. (Something I never thought that I would say!)

For five reasons:-

1 I truly believe that Britain and British politics would be a much better place without Nigel Farage as an elected representativE.
2 I think that Nigel Farage has been a terrible MP for the people of Clacton and they deserve better
3 I genuinely believe that Jon Harvey is an intelligent and fundamentally decent person and so would make a decent job of being an MP if he found himself elected
4 £350k is a lot of money to save
5 A YouTube video of Nigel Farage’s face when he realises that he has been beaten by a man who put a bin on his head is a treat we all deserve when we have had a bad day.

I wholeheartedly agree with all of these. And I lived in Clacton my X would be for Count Binface

#BinForTheWin!

BakingN · 08/07/2026 23:43

I would vote for him if I could

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 08/07/2026 23:52

In a proper election if he was standing in my constituency? Not a chance, I want my vote to count for something.

In this situation where the options are someone with some proper political opinions, and the other candidate is Farage? You're damn right I'd be voting for the bin to get in.

It would be glorious. It doesn't really matter who wins, even if Farage gets 90% of the the vote, it's against a man with a bin on his head. He's going to look like a bellend no matter what happens.

Whynottryagain · 09/07/2026 00:00

Between Farage and Binface, it's a no brainier. I'd absolutely vote for Binface. I asked DH and he would too.

saraclara · 09/07/2026 00:14

Toohotforwork · 08/07/2026 19:36

I made this for another thread as Count Binface was on the radio saying voting for him would save £350k in a second bi election.

My only worry is that if he is elected as a "joke" candidate it might backfire when is more serious than the clowns currently in parliament.

A bi-election? I didn't know Farage was bi.

(You might want to change the spelling on your bus)

Jon Harvey is smart, successful, knowledgeable, and experienced in dealing with the media and public. He also understands true British culture.

I don’t even think it would just be a protest vote - I genuinely think he’d serve his constituency better.

Binface is silly most of the time. Then he throws in a really good political point with excellent stats and justification. When he does this, he's absolutely better than most serving MPs and it really shows up. These points really are something of a curve ball because he goes from Nationalising Adele to a serious and really sensible argument. I actually think this makes him distinctive.

We have a long history of political crackpots and eccentrics in this country. The very best are arguably amongst our brightest political minds. We don't often appreciate how hard it is to do what Binface does. Nor how much you have to believe in the principle of democracy to stand. It's not just all a big jape. For starters it costs £500 a time just to stand and you only get that back if you get a minimum of 5% of the vote. Getting your deposit back is, in itself, an achievement.

For these reasons I actually see him more as a potential Martin Bell than some of the Rent-A-Costume Candidates.

The risk here for Farage here is actually that Binface goes viral. It's a realistic possibility. And that way madness lies

Justusethebloodyphone · 09/07/2026 00:41

I’d vote for him over many candidates.

A risk for Farage and a win for the country in the battle not to become a Trumpian nightmare.

I so hope British humour can make a serious and important difference here.

FlamingoFloss · 09/07/2026 00:50

OMG! I 🤣🤣🤣🤣 this morning watching him being interviews

Sporadica · 09/07/2026 01:05

If he showed up at Westminster most of the time and is capable of making even an occasional sensible political point he'd be an upgrade on both Farage and my own current MP.

I understand boycotting the election but I don't see how it's going to have a desirable outcome. Given that people still keep voting for Farage's Party of the Week after seeing the results of Brexit, I won't be surprised if loads of people DO turn up and vote for Farage. Unless people organise and get behind someone else, that chancer will remain MP and will be rewarded yet again for wasting public money, plus you risk a knock-on Trump effect with every bot in Nizhny Novgorod crowing about how great Farage is for sticking it to the people establishment, and some carbon-based lifeforms will very likely believe and repeat it.

Jon Harvey (Count Binface) is a comedian, actor and writer who has worked on HIGNFY and The Thick of It. He's said that if he won he'd move to Clacton and do his best for them.

What has NF done in the last 2+years?

Vote Binface!

If I lived in Clacton I absolutely would! 😀

If I lived in Clacton I would but this is the south east, politics is very different down there.

I still don't understand why anyone would vote for Farage. He's simply a horrible nasty man who you shouldn't trust with your vote.

More interested in lining his pockets than the people of Clacton.

Farage is throwing a strop and this is a PR stunt. The probe however, isn't going away. He can resign but if you notice it's not been accepted by the house and this is because while he's an MP the probe continues. The issue is so serious that the serious crime squad is involved.

From the earliest days Farage has been up to no good. His friends and funders have links to the Kremlin and far right groups that are actively destabilising UK politics. It's a political coup. Aaron Banks , Robert Mercer all involved and let's not forget Andy Wigmore. These are crooks in suits and they get away with it because of their status. They are some of the worst most crooked people you'll never meet and they answer to no one. They showed contempt for Parliament refusing to co operate.

So if people think that Farage has our interests at heart they are delusional. He answers to no one and this PR stunt is yet another example of that contempt.

Farage is the establishment. This is him trying to avoid scrutiny and an attempt at the establishment to regain control.

It's a sad fact that our democracy allows these people to become MPs. It shows the strength of our democracy but highlights it's weakness as we grapple the lies and hate being spread on social media that has allowed Farage to become so popular.

Keir Starmer has been forced out of number 10 largely thanks to this man, hounded by his underhand tactics and now he's complaining about scrutiny.

Thankfully there has been cooperation from the conservatives and we may get a chance to lock up Farage and hunt down reform funders and cut off the head before the next election.

His resignation has been accepted. He is no longer an MP. The rest of your post is spot on though!

Would love to go to a hustings.

Get in the bin! I would definitely vote for him.

A YouTube video of Nigel Farage’s face when he realises that he has been beaten by a man who put a bin on his head is a treat we all deserve when we have had a bad day.

I'm petty sure that the candidates all get told the result privately backstage before it is formally announced, so I'd bet the farm that if Binface wins then Nigel would walk out rather than stand on stage in front of everyone. Mind you that would also make entertaining viewing!

Icantreadthesmallprint · 09/07/2026 08:31

Does anyone remember the mayor who was elected dressed as a monkey? If I remember correctly he actually ended up doing quite a good job!
