Farage resigns as Clacton MP and will contest the by-election

Nigel Farage is resigning as MP for Clacton, triggering a by-election in the constituency - which he will stand in.

He says he wants the people of Clacton to decide whether he is worthy of representing them - not the mainstream media who he feels constantly attack him personally as well as the party he represents.

If it was Farage v Binface, I would, in all seriousness, vote Binface.

If the whole election is to be run as some sort of protest, I can see Binface winning.

Low turnout because there's nothing to vote for, only those who are furious at the debarcle bother...?

Binface does have the best policies - I think he do well as PM.

There is a lot of talk of this, don’t give him the attention he is after. I think this should be where the other parties stick together

How amazing would it be if Binface beat Farage?! That would be so deeply satisfying, and utterly humiliating for the corrupt toad. Binface in the Commons. This needs to be the campaign.

The other parties sticking together would absolutely be reform against the establishment which was the point Farage was making.

Badenoch’s just announced there will be no Tory candidate.

Farage is the establishment, so he can stand against himself.

He’s offered to pay, but he knew it would be rejected because that would be like buying an our democracy. He’s a fake.

No it's being a politian. He spent less than a year as Chief Secretary to the Treasury before being demoted to Media and sport. Then less than a year as Health Secretary. It was hardly a stellar success. I get that he is the best that Labour has and even then they had to go outside of the 450 cretins that were elected. But anyone in the real world who was moved on after a year in each role would be getting their P45 pretty fast.

Hardly surprising no ones going to stand for the Tories. The guy in kingmakerfield lost his deposit.

Unless Binface gets in, in which case, the real question is whether he’s allowed to wear his bin in the Commons

If the inquiry restarts once he's reinstated, what does he gain by standing down?

Nothing. He gets nothing. This is not going away.

No, so why has he done it? I loathe the man, but he's a shrewd operator and far from stupid.

Can Farage withdraw his resignation or is it too late for that?

Timing. The king will be anointed in about two weeks. This will enable Farage to run a policy campaign alongside the king releasing his back of a fag packet plan. Farage can run it like an election campaign showing the alternative to "vibes". Farage is putting himself up for a vote at the very time the king is crowned.

Except he’s not because two of the main parties and Restore have said they won’t contest the seat. If Labour and the Greens do the same there’s no by-election or one with only Binface opposing him.

Did you listen to his speech? He is doing it because of all the hate being thrown his way, and the step too far was to involve his daughter. He is doing it to show that not everyone is a hater and that (if elected) he is, democratically, Clacton people’s choice.
