Farage resigns as Clacton MP and will contest the by-election

Nigel Farage is resigning as MP for Clacton, triggering a by-election in the constituency - which he will stand in.

He says he wants the people of Clacton to decide whether he is worthy of representing them - not the mainstream media who he feels constantly attack him personally as well as the party he represents.

@nicepotoftea If he were concerned about his daughter he would just resign and carry on making money. Nothing he has done in the last few days protects her.

Good point. But some lions do not slink away but go on the attack when a cub is threatened.

His problem is that he seems to have made some of his money by making promises about crypto regulation to crypto billionaires. The odd thing is that there is nothing illegal about this. As an MP, he just has to be transparent and declare it. However, for some reason he doesn't want the electorate to have this information.

Tbh, I have not taken much notice. As soon as anyone talks ‘crypto’ my brain switches off. Having said that, I once watched a Netflix presentation about it, and for a few minutes it all made sense.

Quote " Good point. But some lions do not slink away but go on the attack when a cub is threatened."

Don't male lions do that thing where they kill all the cubs when they take over a pride ?

So when a lioness goes on the attack to protect her cubs, it is the new male lion they are protecting them from. But the new male usually wins. And any cubs that are not his he kills.

.

Am I the only one who loves Count Binface's policies?❤️

I've loved croissants since the 80s. From a yearly treat in my teens, to a handheld breakfast staple,on my way to.work in the 90s.

I was in an airport cafe recently and went to buy a ham and cheese croissant and it was £6.95. I mean WTF?🤯 That's just not right! Not in this day and age.

I am a UK citizen. My parents, grandparents and great grandparents were UK citizens. I support a cap on the price of croissants. They've brought nothing but pleasure to our lives.

Sweet, savoury or just added butter.

2024 Clacton numbers https://electionresults.parliament.uk/elections/3392

Reform have doubled their UK polling average since May 2024 (14%to 28%)

There is no way on earth Nige rolled the dice without knowing he's going to win - and he will, and be unassailable when he does, and quite capable of forcing a general election after that....

I know who I would rather have running the UK economy - it's certainly not, "more of the same shit that never works" Burnham.

I'd quite like someone who can count to twenty without removing their socks in charge - It's the economy. It's always the economy.

Ludicrous Yes they'll vote for him, its a reform safe seat. Does not make him unasailable at all
Makes him look like a conceited idiot

Honestly, they’re making politics into a complete farce. I cannot believe what I’m witnessing. I keep saying this but every time I see any of them just bare faced lying on tv and getting irate and laughably unprofessional, I’m open mouthed in disbelief that this is what we are descending into and it’s being allowed. It’s not normal and shouldn’t be being normalised. It’s horrifying.

It’s a rerun of what happened in the US.

Tell people what they want to hear, make the business of running a country sound uncomplicated so that any idiot can do/understand it. Rage against the toxic ‘establishment’ whilst actually being the toxicity.

All the time building personal wealth.

This has been billed as Count Binface vs the Count of Dodgy Crypto.

His policies are brilliant and do resonate. Like the £1 croissants and the 99 flakes being reduced to their rightful price of 99p.

Amazing economic policies right there.

It’s funny but I do think the people of Clacton have the right to be pretty pissed off. No one likes to think where they live is being used so explicitly for something that isn’t going to improve their lives in all likelihood.

It will improve their lives if 99 flakes being sold on the seafront get reduced to 99p.

More than 50% of those who voted last time didn't vote for Farage. The question is whether, in a two horse race, more people are willing to vote for him than not, especially as they've now experienced his hands-off approach to being an MP for the last 2 years.

What are the odds on Binface winning? I might splurge a fiver! 🤣

ByGraptharsHammer · Yesterday 08:52

There has been some polling about Farage and his financial affairs. Does not look good. A lot of people think he has been dishonest. Also looks like a lot of people don’t agree with his decision to run the by election either. Seems to be making himself unpopular!

Is there muffling or an echo from the bin? I imagine it does make an interview a bit more challenging

Terribleio · Yesterday 08:58

What we need is a popular independent to run on an anti-Farage ticket and to win. Unfortunately, if they don’t win it just gives Farage the scope to argue it was a genuine contest against the “establishment” that he won. So personally I think no contest or a contest against Count Binface pretty much exposes this as the farce it is.

He came across very clearly. He called Farage's behaviour a cunning stunt. 😁

Terribleio · Yesterday 09:04

I be fair, there’d be no better way of sticking to the establishment than voting for a bloke wearing a giant bin.

If Farage is going to use the electoral stystem and democracy itself to, in his words, "stick two fingers up" perhaps the electorate in Clacton will do the same and Binface will win? There were more votes against Farage than for him last time.

MLMsuperfan · Yesterday 11:55

Farage claims his daugter was hounded. This is what actually happened.

Who knew he was so thin-skinned ❄️?

Mind you he also claims that men can't wear watches on the streets of London.

If Binface helps the good folk of Clacton bin this corrupt fantasist that'd make my year.
