Farage and Reform

An article in the Independent today claims that us mums here on mumsnet support the Reform party, I was horrified to think mums of our future generations would support a grifter like Farage. So I’m conducting this poll.

It’s such fake hype.

MN and Reform isn’t about politics, it’s about MN being easily flooded by bad faith posters and AI bots.

The real story is about the number of actual women who feel let down by politicians of all parties, from that misogynistic prick Zack Polanski to the SNP to the Lib Dems and Labour. And let’s not forget the Tory insouciance that got us into this mess under May, Mordaunt and Nokes.

THAT’S the story. And fuck Reform.

WallaceinAnderland · 07/01/2026 18:57

The article says that 20% of mumsnet users say they would vote Reform.

A much larger percent said that they were politcally homeless because there was no decent party to vote for.

Lonelycrab · 07/01/2026 19:43

If @MNHQ put a requirement that posters/users had to have a minimum of say 3 months good faith usage of the site (ie they are actually PARENTS) before posting/voting on serious political threads…

It would be an entirely different landscape.

The site is far too open imo for manipulation and bots for any sort of data obtained to be taken seriously. All traffic is good traffic; I can understand that pov but let’s not pretend that things aren’t open to manipulation.
Have we learned nothing from what happened with Cambridge Analytica?

That’s just my opinion. Hope I am free to express it.

I'm sick of the hatred and division that reptile feeds and thrives on.

Circularmadness · 10/01/2026 09:16

Honestly, I cannot see how any decent person could consider voting for Reform. So called “patriots” who voted out of the EU to our detriment under the guise of getting our sovereignty back are now begging unelected foreigners to take action against our democratically elected government, in order to keep producing child porn. It’s disgusting. Rupert Lowe is only concerned about losing the 12k a month he gets from X.

Because America the home of free speech only if Trump agrees with what's being said.
The dept of war only pre approved articles published
The whitehouse press room if an awkward question comes up the journalist is ridiculed or worse if it's a female journalist.
You really think that Vance is the answer ,that nut said people in Scotland couldn't freely pray in their own homes.
This was in relation to buffer zones around abortion clinics. The zones are to stop religious zealots harassing women.
Musk where to even start with the ket head

I think you misunderstand my post. I’m definitely opposed to the Trump regime and am appalled at the number of fake patriots gagging to see that regime implemented in the UK

dwordle · 10/01/2026 10:59

Farage is a Trump puppet, GB news the voice of Trump....X a pollutant of many minds and we wonder why they are so popular.

lljkk · 10/01/2026 11:06

there are Reform supporting posts here.
I'd say the loudest posters and majority of posts are anti-Tory & anti-Reform.
Whether any posters on MN (except me) are real people writing in good sincere faith, I dunno.

I'm so sorry please accept my apologies.
I thought the part about Vance and Musk help us in Britain was an add on to your post above that 🙏

Absolutely! The propaganda is wild, I don’t know what the answer is. The problem is that the reasonably large number of people who are susceptible to it have been groomed to believe they are “free thinkers” 😬🫣

Araminta1003 · 10/01/2026 11:29

The reason it is worrying is because in 2016 apparently MN predicted Brexit, when the status quo didn’t think that was likely.

Brexit was a protest vote and so is Reform for many. It signals fed up of the status quo with no real afterthought as to the consequences.

I am happy with people not being parents, I don't really care if they are here for style and beauty, books, whatever. But it would be great from the point of view of articles like this if they acknowledged that this site is not just school gate mums forming cliques and trampling over other parents and that lots of people are here in bad faith (and loads of decent people not in those two groups!)

There is a large group (some of whom might be school gate mums) who are just here to agitate. And it is really working. If people complain, they get told they want an echo chamber. At this point, I kind of do.

Also, 20% of Mumsnet supporting Reform? They will need more than that to win any election so I wouldn't be worried yet.

Probably the same lot who had lots of pro Brexit threads back in the day

I dont understand this thread. Presumably as national polls put Reform well in the lead at 30% roughly, it's odd that support for Reform on MN is only 20%. Presumably that implies that MN is a left wing echo chamber rather than a right wing one.

The 30% figure is for men.

CheshireCat1 · 10/01/2026 13:32

Reform and Farage will eventually self combust

JoyintheMorning · 10/01/2026 14:47

Labour is saying that they are deporting criminals, they claim it is more than 2,000 so far. If this is true I am sure that would not have happened without the agitation from Nigel. So far they have not started on the 'overstayers'. Reform will make that a priority.
Whilst many people will agree with this Policy is it enough to persuade a majority to vote for them? I doubt it.

EEexpat · 10/01/2026 14:48

So far 105 have contributed to the poll. Nowhere near enough to make any conclusion.

Reform are topping the polls, but they are often based on samples of a few thousand. Again, nowhere near enough to make any conclusion.

The answer is to ban X altogether, restrict Facebook, TikTok to over 18s, Ban truth social.

Sounds harsh but it's the only way to protect our democracy.

Is it? How do you know that?

There are plenty of men on MN.
