The bbc would be the only news outlet not covering the report if they hadn’t!

EasternStandard · 26/11/2025 12:26

NotThatWay · 26/11/2025 12:18

OMG!!! The OBR has just released their report into the Budget, 45 mins before the actual Budget!!

This is a massive upset. It will also give the Tories time to give Kemi Badenoch an actual reply to the budget.

Idiots

They can report it on their news website, no need to rush out as many bullet points as possible in a random fashion right before Reeves starts talking. Is it safe to turn back on now?

GentleSheep · 26/11/2025 12:28

Thanks for the thread. Yes it has been a very long wait.

Coletilla · 26/11/2025 12:28

When is the OBR report usually released?

I'd far rather listen to someone from the BBC anyone at all than Reeves, I can't bear her voice. And now the BBC has the facts, plus the OBR analysis, not her spin.

It's all very funny.

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 26/11/2025 12:29

You couldn’t make it up could you 🙈🙈.

When is the OBR report usually released?

After the budget?

After the budget?

Usually at about 2.30pm ish, when the Chancellor has finished.

When is the OBR report usually released?

When the Chancellor finishes speaking.

Here's an update from the OBR:

Notice regarding Economic and fiscal outlook being released today

A link to our Economic and fiscal outlook document went live on our website too early this morning. It has been removed.

We apologise for this technical error and have initiated an investigation into how this happened.

We will be reporting to our Oversight Board, the Treasury, and the Commons Treasury Committee on how this happened, and we will make sure this does not happen again.

Our Economic and fiscal outlook and supporting documents will be released when the Chancellor has finished her speech.

After the budget?

Thanks! So immediately after the chancellor delivers her speech. Wow.

NotThatWay · 26/11/2025 12:32

😆

NotThatWay · 26/11/2025 12:32

Also her Big Budget Reveal, ending the two child benefit cut - totally punctured.

They should not be removing this cap.

Tax tax tax, more tax.

Yeah but to be fair, we already knew that was happening.

Bumblebee72 · 26/11/2025 12:35

Wow what a start to the omni fuck up budget. Lower growth, lower employment, higher debt, more cash going to feckless parents.......

Bumblebee72 · 26/11/2025 12:35

ShesTheAlbatross · 26/11/2025 12:34

Had hoped her announcement might have been to move it one child.

I love the deputy Speaker's tie! totally misses the point

I'm not a fan of Reeves, or Labour particularly, but I don't find the OBR's error remotely amusing.

It's supposed to be an independent body with zero political influence. To make an error like that simply isn't acceptable, and in general we should be demanding higher standards from public bodies.

That they've upstaged someone unpopular doesn't make it acceptable.

Yes this and also the level of pre budget briefing has been ridiculous. It's caused so much worry and uncertainty.

WildCats24 · 26/11/2025 12:38

I’m cooked. I seem to recall someone belting out “Things Can Only Get Better” outside the gates of Downing Street as Sunak gave his speech in the rain. Not true for my family, I’m afraid—things are only getting worse for our bottom line.

I don't think anyone's saying it's acceptable? And I suppose it takes the heat off the BBC for a day or two 😁

Yes, there's already been the shambles of constant kites being flown to see how they would do.
