Emmanuel Macron forced to walk 30 minutes through Manhattan due to Trump’s motorcade!

Just a bit of light relief after the nonsense inside the UN today. Saw this and thought it was funny. I actually like how Macron keeps on trying on the international front (even though it’s a shit show at home for him). His speech on Palestine yesterday demonstrated the kind of leadership we need to be hearing from the US.

The video shows him calling up Trump on his mobile to let him know he was stuck because of Trump’s blockade.

Anyway I thought it was pretty cool he just walked down the street.

‘Guess what?’ Macron phones Trump after US president’s motorcade blocks his car

Speaking as a New Yorker, we hate the whole U.N. thing. Not only ties up car traffic, but slows buses as well. And anyone hoping to dine at a good restaurant, forget it.

It has always amused me that in any other American city, I'm sure they're delighted when the President comes to town, and consider it exciting, or an honor. In Manhattan, we just consider it a nuisance.

Macron showed his class in just walking through NY but it was pretty disrespectful of the host city and country that it happened at all. Imagine if he’d been attacked - it looked like just anyone could approach him for photos.
Compare and contrast with the circus of US armoured cars for POTUS when they travel.
Well done Macron but it could have been a disaster.

I’m impressed with how Macron turned a potential embarrassment into a pretty cool moment.

Yep, I actually think he’s been a class act on the international front, especially in his “handling” of Trump. He’s not afraid to correct him and still manages to flatter him enough to keep the “jovial” air - even though it’s all sinister as fuck wondering what fresh hell Trump will bring next.

Speaking in defense of NYC - it's not disrespectful, it's just the way NYC is. I assume that if Macron felt in danger, he would have stayed in the car. Manhattan is a slender island, and even without stopping traffic for a president, things can come to a stand-still. In NYC, it's called "gridlock."
But, yes, Macron was great about it.

Yes. If only America had a president like that...

Instead America has escalator sabotage &then teleprompter sabotage. (Both, as it turns out caused by his own team).

I saw some of Fox news (a clip) and they remain ridiculous (but unfortunately, dangerous) - Apparently Trump ‘lurched’ forward (half an inch maybe as he’d just stepped onto it - more like he swayed a little. But he does that normally.

Another Fox ‘news’ anchor called for bombing or gassing the UN, but then laughingly mused it could be pulled down for more housing. Another anchor posited it could be replaced by low income housing: The first anchor laughingly said no, that he likes nice big expensive apartment blocks.
So weird, given that most of the people listening to Fox would not have anywhere near that kind of money.

Then Trump gets up and makes his speech and we get to hear about how the UN never gives him anything except broken escalators &telepromoters. 😂😂

Back to Fox News room, yet another anchor says that he goes shopping regularly and he uses escalators all the time and they’ve never broken down. He tells us he’s had five lifts break down on him his life, but he’s never had an escalator. How could an escalator break down? How could it happen? He’s outraged.

Macron just walks on.

From what little I know, it's not clear to me that the escalator wasn't "sabotage." The timing was too perfect. It's particularly funny because Trump is reportedly fearful of stairs.
Hilarious that Trump claims he goes shopping. Yeah, I can just imagine him casually strolling into a store. I'm sure that his underlings have been doing his shopping for him for decades. Escalators break down frequently, but I've never had one break while I was on it, although I did get stuck in an elevator.

It wasn’t Trump. It was a particularly ridiculous news anchor.

I can’t imagine Trump going shopping either. Although I did wonder if he perused the Walmart or Costco catalogues for the very many plaster (plastic?) moulds he’s had painted gold and stuck up on every square inch of the Oval Office walls. I’ve heard his decorating style referred to as ‘Dictator Chic’.

Lol - "Dictator chic"?
Trump is living proof that generally money can't buy taste.
