So please excuse my lack of knowledge as I try and avoid the news at the moment, but I can’t seem to get away from everyone talking about national conscription and nuclear attacks and basically very soon WW3 is going to start? I’m a very anxious person and this is sending my spiralling! I know no o en has the answers, but I wanted someone opinions that isn’t the news or social media on what’s going on without scaring the shit out of me

Maybe just look at a mainstream news channel once a day so that you can see the facts? Overheard snippets are worse. I think I’d be very worried if I lived in Iran right now, but assuming you live in the uk I don’t think you need to be alarmed to the point of panic, we are most likely to be affected by price rises (esp oil) and things like cyberattacks. These are obviously worrying and it sensible to be concerned but perhaps not quite as bad as you are imagining.

Excuse me, but this is unfortunately, the world in action, and frantically trying for reassurance is, in my opinion, pointless and not necessarily in your best interest. What would be in your best interest would be developing some way of dealing with your anxiety, preferably not with medication.
I doubt we're headed into WW3 "soon," but it's a very dicey situation, and it's reasonable to be scared and furious. What you should do is stick to news sources that are reliable and not sensationalized.

There is war, yes. World War 3? That’s a stretch.
Sensationalism, darling.

I know someone who looks at the news headlines once a day and then no more.

It is completely within the power of us all to switch off the buttons and not have a daily bombardment of TV, papers, radio bulletins, e-mails, social media, texts et cetera. In one way they are tyrants.

If WW3 starts ten hours before you're due to make your quick visit to the headlines someone will let you know.
