Has he really done a nazi salute in the trump inauguration celebration? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am in contact with a couple of fairly laid-back German friends and they are absolutely horrified. In Germany you can be arrested for making this salute. In fact you can be arrested for making it even as part of a satire on the Nazis. The whole topic is a third rail, completely off-limits.

I suspect there will be a phone call from Berlin to Brussels tomorrow, requesting the European Commission to move ahead with whatever contingency plans they have to ban Twitter/X in Europe.

If anyone doubted the first salute, he made sure to squash that doubt by doing it a second time. Live on the telly knowing he is being watched by millions. I think he's pushing to see how far he can go.

That wasn't an ASD thing. Please don't use neurodiversity as an excuse for this. He's an extremely intelligent man who is experienced in functioning at a high level in settings like this - he will have known exactly what his hands were doing and have had control over them.

I’ve got a great deal of time for your posts Ken, but here, imho you are being naive.

He’s on the biggest stage in the world right now. The nazi salute is a very specific thing, arm straight and fingers straight too, pointing up. He did it twice and he knows exactly what he’s doing, and who he’s doing it to.

This is madness. Shouldn't this be illegal.

It's awful because I was only thinking a couple of weeks ago that Elon musk was quite interesting. That he was making a lot of new developments with cars and robots etc.

Now I see that he is one of the dark guys.

I really, really would like to give Musk the benefit of the doubt over this because it being meant as a Nazi salute is just too awful to contemplate.

But his vocal and vigorous support for the AfD alongside the salute makes it really hard to brush off as a mistake.
