I went to Church on Sunday (school admission thing)and at least 1/3 of the congregation were doing the Heartsalutethrow thing I was a bit shocked at how much it looked like a Nazi salute. Pretty sure none of them are Nazi supporters.

They did what?

What sort of church is that?

I didn't mean to laugh at that one.

Ok, thanks.

Not sure I'd want my kid going to a school linked with a church where that goes on...

"Haha, yes. It does look like a Nazi salute. Just a coincidence I assure you. More tea?"

He's physically very awkward in his gestures. He said he was directing love as he threw his arm out. Nothing to see here.

Facepalm

WitchesCauldron · 21/01/2025 16:50

I cannot believe in the same week that we mark 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz the right hand man to the most powerful position in the world is doing a Nazi salute, not once but twice. Everything about Musk is repugnant.

Make Nazis Normal Again

Yep.

More about Musk and AfD from December when he wrote an opinion piece for the German paper Die Welt where he endorsed the right wing party

https://joycevance.substack.com/p/musk-in-die-welt?r=5n3e

Must have been an accident. He's autistic, you know.

That out of control arm just flew out and accidentally typed that.

What’s even more upsetting is how many people are fine with it or scrabbling to excuse it.

Those defending him, if it genuinely was an accident - he was doing another gesture which has been misconstrued etc then wouldn’t most people be absolutely mortified and quickly issue an apology for causing offence? Unless I’ve missed something that doesn’t seem to be the case?

If you haven't already, delete your X account and don't buy a Tesla.

Anyone who buys a Tesla from now will be judged, by me if not God.

The Democrats have been in power for at least half of the last decade, they need to look at why the vote has gone like this. Why ordinary people are turning to the likes of trump and musk.

I hate this argument. "The other people didn't do a good enough job of convincing me not to vote for fascists".

Oh so it's the Democrat's fault?
Not the Republicans for choosing Trump as their candidate who then chose to be involved with Musk?

There really should be some kind of amnesty programme for those of us who bought them in the peri-Fascist era.

Refunds for full purchase price minus wear and tear and ongoing mental health support.

AllFurCoatAndFrillyKnickers · 21/01/2025 17:03

@SerendipityJane
I've been judging Tesla owners for a while.
Tesla's are quite common. I live on a road with 65 houses and 3 have a white Tesla.

DuncinToffee · 21/01/2025 17:06

You can buy bumper stickers stating you bought the Tesla before you knew Musk was crazy

Elon musk salute
Newsenmum · 21/01/2025 17:07

I seriously dislike the man, but wasn’t he just throwing his heart out type thing that they always do? It looked bad but he is very awkward.

Obviously prior to today a lot of people - a former boss included - merely liked the shiny and the illusion of saving the planet whilst being on the edge.

However with a slight shift of "the edge" .... well there is no excuse.

It would be ironic if Telsas became less popular due to the market forces of insurance. Especially if they attract the wrong sort of attention.

Applecharm25 · 21/01/2025 17:09

Do we all have to be nazis now?

I don't know if I have time to devote myself full time to the old nazi -ism

(This is from a tv show before anyone comes at me)

Thing is, we know how registration numbers work in the UK.

And trying to disguise year of purchase with personalised plates may not help.

The whole speech was awkward. It does look bad. I always find him to be a bit odd body language wise (not making excuse just saying).

I think it is worrying when it is then coupled with his message - the future of civilisation is assured

I think some posters are being a little disingenuous when claiming ‘my heart goes out to you’ was all he said.

The electorate are given 2 parties to choose from. If party X is less appealing than party Y, party X does need to address its failings and the concerns of the electorate, not dismiss them and hope they win. Can't be any clearer than that.

MushMonster · 21/01/2025 17:30
I agree with this man. I hope he did not intend to use a nazi salute. I think I have seen fist to heart, then stretch right hand in Romans films before, with the hail Caeser or we salute you Caesar, when they leave the room? I have seen Musk putting his right hand over his heart, then extending his right arm. Am I right that the Nazi salute itself involves lifting your already streched arm? Or am I wrong?

I do hope that Musk, though we all know is right, is not nazi! Just praying here.

Well ours genuinely qualifies, so I've thought about the bumper sticker. It is thoroughly embarrassing. The unfortunate thing is that it's a genuinely lovely car to drive.
