Because as both owner of the platform and perpetrator of the salute, he could be up on a charge in Germany and certainly have Twitter taken down there. By editing it out, yes made it harder for them to act decisively. It calculated behaviour.

Ive left Twitter, so cant see for myself but is the unedited video all over Twitter? If so can Germany take action anyway?

It certainly looked weird but I'm not buying into them being anti-Semitic due to their close ties with Isreal.

Your mistake is accusing Trump and Musk and their fans of having any joined up/coherent thinking.

Allihavetodoisdream · 21/01/2025 08:26

You know the old saying.
If it talks like a Nazi, walks like a Nazi, dresses like a Nazi, salutes like a Nazi, hangs out with Nazis, pardons Nazis, then it’s probably a Nazi.
Or not.
I’m wondering what it is exactly it would take for some of you to believe that we are seeing a rise of fascism. Do you want a full Springtime for Hitler routine? The rounding up of undesirables (literally about to happen)? What will it take?

I’d love everybody who supports this and thinks others are unhinged and hysterical to please upload a video of them doing this. Upload a video of you doing this salute and support Elon since you idolise him so much.

Upload it to your LinkedIn profile. Upload it where your boss can see it. Upload it where your family can see it. Go on. Show us.

Edited

This. We could have one of those famous MN threads where oddballs post photos of themselves hoping for likes, but instead of 'how old do I look?' we could call it 'how fashy do I look?'

Posters could rate the photos on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being 'nope, definitely just waving at my friend in the park' and 10 would be 'I have Asperger's, shut up', obvs.

Dreadful!

Oh come on, you can't compare those still images to the video of what Musk did. The people in your meme are lifting their arms to wave. Musk saluted. Watch it.

Whimsicalgrape · 20/01/2025 22:43

The Democrats have been in power for at least half of the last decade, they need to look at why the vote has gone like this. Why ordinary people are turning to the likes of trump and musk.

Yes. It's very clear though: mass manipulation.

A Nazi salute is not a Nazi salute.

People in prison for inciting mobs to burn down hotels containing human beings are in prison for "writing something on Facebook".

The man who pays people to make him look good at video games is a "genius".

The greatest harm social media has done to us is to make people no longer ashamed of looking stupid.

And people who were put in prison for storming the Capitol and trying to overthrow the government are “hostages”.

AndareVeloce · 21/01/2025 08:29

How much I'd like this moron to get in one of his stupid rockets, f off to Mars and never come back. Mars would be worse for him being there, but at least our planet would be much nicer.

Nothing will ever be enough when people buy into an ideology. They'll still deny it a hundred years from now.

It’s so scary that many people don’t seem to have any knowledge re how Hitler rose to power and what he did with the support of the German voters.

Trump, Farrage and politicians in many other countries are copying Hitler and the ignorance is astounding.

At least history will judge them. It’s just about the only comfort right now. That and knowing there are still enough good people who will resist.

Nazis are stupid. That's what makes them so dangerous. You get a few very clever people at the top who manipulate a lot of people. But overall, Nazis are stupid people who enjoy being ignorant and not having to think. It means they can get on with being cruel to minorities and people they don't like.

NoMoreCheddar · 21/01/2025 08:31

People often wonder how the German people allowed Hitler to do what he did.

I think some of the replies in this thread help answer the question.

ooooohnoooooo · 21/01/2025 08:32

Hi all.

I urge you to listen to this from a very eloquent and clever young Britidh guy. It's a few minutes long, but easy to understand and explains a lot about Musk et Al.

Please listen to it.

And for those who still don't want to see what's plain to see: here's the flag of the fictional 'Kekistan' he is referring to in his X username. Tell me you really don't see it...

StandFirm · 21/01/2025 08:34

The pic didn't attach in my last post. So again: for those who still don't want to see what's plain to see: here's the flag of the fictional 'Kekistan' he is referring to in his X username. Tell me you really don't see it...

Elon musk salute
StandFirm · 21/01/2025 08:35

And you. know what? Attaching this pic might even get me banned from MN

StandFirm · 21/01/2025 08:36

I'll stop now because this is in fact freaking me out. And I travel to the US regularly...

Pigeon31 · 21/01/2025 08:37

anotherside · 21/01/2025 08:21

Thats not a Nazi “like” salute though. That is a Nazi salute, and he did it twice.

Yes but they don't want to get sued

Possibly (have also left Twitter) but it's a much less straightforward legal position so just risks a whole lot of noise without success and enabled them to ridicule the whole idea of being upset by a Nazi salute. Which is kind of what they're going for. Awful, playground stuff but effective.

It’s

And entirely unsurprising

TyotyaKlava · 21/01/2025 08:49

It was even more disturbing along with the grunt he made while doing the nazi salut

DangerPigeon · 21/01/2025 08:56

If anyone sees any posts by Musk apologising, saying it was a clumsy mistake for something else, and denouncing nazi ideology, could you please post it.

Because right now the thing that is deafening in it's silence is the lack of response from him or Trump, which just adds to the weight of it was what we think it was.
