Hopefully one step forward to stopping this. 12 million displaced is the terrifying estimation, many many thousands killed and raped.
It includes sanctions on weapon providers.
I do hope that other countries join and stop the supply of weapons or any other aid to both sides.

Given the length of time the Biden administration has left in office, I doubt if anyone in Sudan is in the slightest bit interested.

There will presumably marches in London each week against these appalling atrocities bearing in mind it's a genocide.

Why would there be? There has not been that much coverage really, regarding this atrocity, or have you not noticed?

Yes. There must be something different about it. What could have sparked the relentless coverage and marches on Gaza I wonder. And not an actual genocide?

Not cheap unfortunately. Very serious. The fact that the post about an actual genocide was ignored, that there's been little press and no marches is very revealing.

Following from my PP, despite my acknowledging the true horror of what is going on in Sudan, a post on mumsnet makes no difference to the Sudanese genocide so what we post is neither here nor there and despite the title no one has bothered replying for two days. No one has anything to say.

But it is a sad indictment of (some) of UK society. The lack of interest in a Sudanese genocide currently happening comparison to Gaza shows that you will only have attention and sympathy from (some people) if you have been attacked by Jews otherwise you are effectively ignored.

I actually had given up on the idea of getting replies.....
I only noticed these today.
There is something that sits very wrong with me with having so little noise about what the sudanese people is going through. Particularly one of their groups, who have been more viciously targeted, amounting to genocide as per US.
Praying for this horror to end, for them to get food and roof over their heads ( because at times the fighters have blocked supplies) and they can start the healing process.

I know there is nothing a post can get, in real terms. That is true.
But there is thousands of posts about mundane things, that really do not sort anything, but get an Aw or that is awful reply.
I do post because it took months and months for me to know what was happening in Sudan. I missed the whole first year! Then it is very rare to see articles and coverage about it, so I think most people are not aware really. And I think we need to be aware of what is happening: genocide!
When I do mention this in RL, I usually get concern and comments on other conflicts that are not very covered either, like the violence in Congo. And we wonder, what is going on in the world these days?!

The genocide in Sudan (South Sudan) is a bit too close to home for anyone in the UK to look into considering the Janjaweed of 10 years ago and their current incarnation are directly funded by our pals in Saudi Arabia and the Emirates. Why stop at Sudan, who'd be a Yazidi or any other minority in Syria right now when we've recently armoured up old ISIS to cause a distraction for Russia.
Also weren't France only last year (or 2023?) directly trying to start a civil war in Niger because they wanted some cheap minerals. There are no good guys, just narratives and money.
