Edited: WHO do you think! 🤦‍♀️

I know there have been various threads about both candidates and policies, but thought it might be interesting to see peoples opinions via a straight shooting poll. Go!

That was before the abortion issue, it was a different political landscape then. I really hope my innate optimism isn’t overriding my reason.

It was before the abortion issue. It was 10 days after the Comey bombshell that turned out to be a nothing. She still won the popular vote. People didn't know Trump in the way they do now.

2016 and 2020 are not predictors of 2024.

The bookies have it tight on the overall winner but every bookie has Trump’s odds shortening and Harris drifting.

When you look at the swing states, they’re predicting Trump will win 5 out of 7.

I’ve always thought he’ll win. Can’t see anything currently to make me change my mind.

He was on course to win whe. He was standing against Bide . It was no contest. Over thr last few weeks it looked like Kamala Harris had the edge but now it could be either. Yesterday I thought Harris today I'm thinking maybe Trump after all. I did t like Hillary at all but she seemed capable and was a known figure world wide. Kamala Harris seems. Very lightweight.

But that was before Roe v Wade was revoked.

And her point was that it was only for cases of medical necessity.

elprup · 05/11/2024 23:46

Harris will win, 100%.

It looks like counting is underway in Indiana and Kentucky, with Trump ahead by a significant margin. But that’s to be expected in those states of course.

How come you’re so sure of her winning?

1dayatatime · 05/11/2024 23:52

My prediction is that Harris will take Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania and win by 270 to 268 over Trump.

Very early counts have Trump doing better in red states than he did in 2020 - Kentucky 65.1% as opposed to 62% against Biden, Indiana 71.8% compared to 57% against Biden. To reiterate, very very early counts... but Indiana still a bit scary 😬

I just saw this on twitter which is very different to the fighter you've quoted.

How do we THINK it's going to go?
elprup · 05/11/2024 23:54

@Kibble29 I can’t be sure, of course. But I do have a very strong gut feeling.

I wonder how Trump’s performance in Kentucky and Indiana so far compares to his 2020 vote share in those two states. That would be interesting.

To think Kamala could win when Hilary couldn’t is crazy to me. Hilary is such an intelligent, serious person and Kamala comes across as vapid and without any ideas. The constant gurning and laughing and telling daft stories. I just can’t take her seriously. I guess if I was voting I’d have to vote for her over Trump but I don’t feel she is the right person for the job.

Hilary had too much baggage. Wiki leaks, married to a serial cheater who was accused of SA, yet she repeatedly stood by him. Not to mention the money she was making via dubious ties to Saudi Arabia.

It's comparing apples and oranges.

They're both terrible! Harris can barely get though get a sentence in one piece, she spouts complete nonsense and then cackles for no reason. I think it was the Private Eye podcast that described her as your 'slightly stoned aunt' and that really rings true to me. Hardly someone you'd want representing the USA on the global (or domestic) stage. One of the clearest statements she's ever made was bragging about spending taxpayer money on transitioning prisoners - and that they'd be the very first state to do it. Cackle cackle. In a state with an exploding homeless population that one might think would be a bigger priority for public funds...

And Clinton has continued to support her sex pest predator husband, plus shown herself repeatedly to be rude, sneery and entirely out of touch. Said sex pest also remains in the warm embrace of the party of course... I'd find it extremely difficult to vote for either of them, there seems to be a very deep rot in the Democrats and it's difficult to see how it can be removed when there's a political aristocracy seemingly maintaining total control.

But then on the other side there's Donald Trump, so I suppose I'd have to.

elprup · 05/11/2024 23:58

To answer my own question, Trump is currently on 70% in Kentucky, and in 2020 he won 62.09% of the votes there. BUT only 6% of votes have been counted so far.

I don’t know any decent hard working person voting for that vile woman.

Who's paying you?

I just saw this on twitter which is very different to the fighter you've quoted.

My figures were from the Times. US election results 2024 live: Exit polls released in Trump-Harris decision day.

"First polls close
The first vote tallies of the night have arrived in Kentucky and Indiana, where polls closed at 6pm ET (11pm GMT). With an estimated 1.9 per cent of vote counted in Kentucky, 65.1 per cent of votes have gone for Trump, and 33.7 per cent for Harris.
In neighbouring Indiana, with 1.6 per cent of the vote counted, 71.8 per cent opted for Trump, and 27.4 per cent for Harris.
Trump is certain to win both states. In 2020 he won Kentucky by 62 per cent to President Biden’s 36 per cent, and Indiana by 57 per cent to Biden’s 41 per cent.
Clearly, it is far too early to derive any broader significance from this early vote tally."

The 2024 presidential vote is likely to come down to seven swing states — but prepare for surprises as polls begin to close across America

BBC saying 70% of voters are worried about post-result violence. Trump said he’ll send the national guard to restore law and order if cities fall. Could win him votes there.

Toseland · 06/11/2024 00:03

I'm hoping Trump will win. Not because I support or like him, but because it will be the end of 'women', of womens rights, the loss of gay rights and a continuation and acceleration of the live 'trans' experiment on children with Admiral Levine urging for no lower age limit if Harris wins.

Pumpkinspawn · 06/11/2024 00:05

At the moment Trump 19 Harris 3.. Ultimately I think Trump will edge it but see Republicans sweeping the Senate & house

Yep. Female sports for females only. Female private spaces, toilets, changing rooms for females only.

elprup · 06/11/2024 00:09

Woah, 30% of votes counted in Florida. Trump winning by 51% to 47%. He won it in 2020 as well, but again it was very tight. I thought Florida was solid Republican it seems more split than I realised.

elprup · 06/11/2024 00:12

But Harris looks well ahead in Georgia!

Why do you want gay people to lose their rights?!

Lovelysummerdays · 06/11/2024 00:15

Harris by a little but I have a terrible track record of political guesses so we’re all pretty much screwed.

rumblegrumble · 06/11/2024 00:16

According to The Economist "Georgia will report early in-person and absentee ballots by 8pm Eastern time, probably giving Democrats an early lead. This will erode as Republican-leaning election-day votes are counted. Unless the state is very close, we should know the result early."

You’re right - and he’s now ahead! Of course that could all change again in the next 20 minutes.
