The riots he inspired in 2020 came close. I personally believe he'd incite a re-run of those terrible events, although I note that it transpired that he made sure his Secret Service bodyguard rushed him back to the safety of The White House once he gave the mob his blessing.

He's unhinged enough to do it all over again.

It's not actual vote count that gives the result.

Why so emotional? The election is about policies it's not about personality or who's most popular. From your many hysterical posts MsAmerica,I picture you salivating whilst watching the idiots on 'The View' and positively fainting at the divisive and downright nasty bile spouting forth from 'Joy' Reid on MSNBC. It's all really rather pathetic actually.

As it happens, I neither watch The View nor MSNBC, and I can't imagine why you think my posts "hysterical."

I agree but would like to add misogynistic, delusional bully and rapist who is also very clearly a pork pie short of a picnic.

Okay by me, @Mittens67. I use the word "bully" a lot, but not "rapist" because as far as I know, nothing has been proven and it's not a term I use lightly.

I love the "a pork pie short of a picnic." Is that a common expression? I never ran across it before.

Really? You can't imagine why I think someone who starts threads slagging off Melania Trump to invite a pile on is hysterical? Melania Trump was not elected to any political position...rather like your hero Kamala Harris.

Meadowfinch · 18/10/2024 09:33

No.

If he loses, he'll claim it was fixed, make a lot of fuss, threaten law suits, but the police and the government will be prepared for that.

They know now, there are no depths he won't sink to, and is completely indifferent to the safety of others.

Trump is currently the favourite to win and I think he will do. All of my US relatives are voting for him.

God that must be hard. Even my racist, brexit voting father-in-law hates Trump. And he's awful to have a conversation with for any length of time!

Wtf? Harris was elected Attorney General, Senator and Vice President.

dubsie · 18/10/2024 13:48

Let them kick off, there will be a lot less trump supporters by the end of it

Trump and Harris or Donald and Kamala - every day sexism to reduce her to her first name and afford him the respect of addressing him by his surname.

No it's that we like and relate to her and feel connected and see her as human - they are just cardboard cartoon men tropes

Oh sorry,my bad,I was getting ahead of myself thinking of November. Let's just say she's absolutely bloody awful as well as being a fake,a liar and a plagiarist. Oh, and she's married to a filthy sex pest and violent abuser.

If that last is true then she has something in common with Mrs Trump.

AFAIK the abuse is only an accusation at the moment, and for all we know Trump's people could have paid someone to make it, but if there's any truth behind the comments about Doug Emhoff's personaility it may be another reason why there's less focus on the pair than might have been expected

DogInATent · 19/10/2024 13:48

The US has the choice of two candidates.

I cannot see any logic by which Trump could possibly be the right choice. He speaks in gibberish, he has the self-awareness of a concrete bollard, he openly insults pretty much every demographic - including veterans, which is a very unusual stance for a US politician. Of late, he can't even walk straight or stand upright.

Sorry, I don't know what "slagging off" means, but no, I don't think starting a thread about someone is inherently hysterical. If I terms someone hysterical it's usually because they've used a crazy amount of capitals and exclamation marks, coupled with wild language.

Sadly I think there is a good likelihood Trump will win. There are a lot of 'never vote democrat' people out there who may find Trump distasteful, indeed disgusting, but he is the one the Republicans put forward. They believe the Republicans will curtail his worse excesses and at least they'll pay less taxes.
There's still more who think politics is like a reality TV show and who don't care who wins as long as their social media feed is entertaining.

You may be right, but it's worth noting that many prominent Republicans have come out to openly endorse Kamala, including, impressively, Congresswoman Liz Cheney, daughter of G. W. Bush vice president Richard Cheney. This is, as far as I know, unprecedented.

There's a lot of Donald's and a lot of Harris's. Trump and Kamala are distinctive names.

Yes, exactly.

God that must be hard. Even my racist, brexit voting father-in-law hates Trump. And he's awful to have a conversation with for any length of time!

Someone from his pre-political days who sat next to him at a dinner said he was unbelievably boring. (Also, someone who said he was unbelievably crude.)

His recent jaw-dropping meandering when he was talking about the genitalia of golfer Arnold Palmer was to me another example of how god-awful he must be to talk with.

Given the importance of the US to the world, I wish the world could have a say in some way.

It's depressing how insular so many Americans are.

I fear a Trump win will legitimise the hostility against the real progress that has happened in western civilisation over many decades (welfare state, women's rights, global warming, Putin).

ncduetooutingsituation · 26/10/2024 09:36

Kamala is doing herself no favours by sharing completely untrue stories from The Atlantic.

It's also notable that the celebrities close to P Diddy are all publicly supporting Harris.

My friends in the US are paying attention to these things.

FloralGums · 26/10/2024 09:43

Always allow your children to experience failure - I fear we are headed for a whole nation of Donald Trump/Farts who cannot accept not being in first place. They have no resilience and expect someone to come in and sort things out for them.
I work as a TA and it’s ridiculous the amount of parents who cant accept their child not being top/first for every activity.

FloralGums · 26/10/2024 09:44
