Poor, poor Jonathan Gullis

...is struggling to find a teaching job now that he has lost his job as an MP.

Jonathan, as desperate as the country is for teachers, we're not that desperate.

Well look if it isn't the consequences of his own actions.

Funnily enough, people aren't all that keen on employing odious bully boys.

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2024 12:39

Calvin Robinson is another one who said he found it difficult being a teacher 'because of his political views'. Maybe Gullis could join him on the right wing grifter circuit.

Absolutely nasty nasty person, I would not want him teaching any children.

Comefromaway · 30/09/2024 12:55

Well I hope he has fucked off back to wherever he was before being parachuted into Stoke as we don't want him here. Not that he would last 5 minutes in a Stoke state school.

Clearinguptheclutter · 30/09/2024 13:00

I hope no school even interviews him

PullTheBricksDown · 30/09/2024 13:02

Maybe his next job will be in cyber 😉

PandoraSox · 30/09/2024 13:03

I can barely hold back the tears. Of laughter.

minou123 · 30/09/2024 13:17

When 200 unaccompanied refugee children went missing in the UK, Jonathan Gullis shouted they shouldn't have come here illegally.

Nice bit of victim blaming, lack of care, compassion of vulnerable children and woeful understanding of safeguarding.

Hmm, I wonder why schools aren't chomping at the bit to hire him? It's a mystery. 🤷‍♀️

AllCatsAreAutistic · 30/09/2024 13:57

Perhaps he can get a job more suited to his abilities. I hear McDonald's are always hiring.

AsFunAsEnglishWeather · 30/09/2024 13:59

Ew. I wouldn't want him touching anything I was about to eat.

Evenstar · 30/09/2024 14:01

@PullTheBricksDown Politics Joe thought the same 🤣

Poor, poor Jonathan Gullis
Comefromaway · 30/09/2024 14:43

Love it!!!!

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2024 16:39

He voted against extending free school meals vouchers into the holidays during covid as an ex-teacher. Who would want him back?

He has called his inability to get a teaching job a ‘damning indictment on the profession’ instead of considering that it might be a damning indictment on Jonathan Gullis.

https://schoolsweek.co.uk/gullis-suggests-schools-wont-employ-him-because-hes-a-former-tory-mp/

The article also reports:

“He’s also of Tory MP Jonathan Gullis's most controversial moments | indy100 called for asylum seekers to be housed in tents and called his constituents scrotes and scumbags.”

I’m sure that would go down well at parents evening.

Gullis suggests schools won’t employ him because he’s a former Tory MP

Unemployed ex-schools minister says ‘there's a lot of schools that will see who I used to represent … and won't even give me an interview’

I would pity any child who had him as a teacher.
Apart from anything else apparently he was a terrible teacher anyway. And one of his tutors when he was training said he was the laziest students he had ever taught.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/09/2024 18:08

Maybe the schools have done a wee on-line check and deemed him unsuitable? What head teacher wants to end every day with him crying his eyes out in their office? 😭

Teaching is a tough job, it's no place for whiney wee snowflakes like Mr. Gullis.

Autumnismyfavouritetimeofyear · 30/09/2024 22:25

I live near Stoke - if he is half as aggressive and nasty in real life as he has always come across in the media, its not his views that are the problem, its his personality.

mum2jakie · 30/09/2024 22:28

Perfect karma! Wouldn't want him anywhere near my kids

EdgeOfSixty · 30/09/2024 23:24

Karma

StrongasSixpence · 01/10/2024 09:15

He was not a good teacher. Used to get very angry at the children calling him Mr Sea-gullis. Grin

His PGCE is in Citizenship which many schools don't teach as a discrete subject. Teaching shortages are subject dependent. Most maths/science teachers can walk into a job in most schools. Not so much for humanities and PE where there is greater competition.

Coruscations · 09/10/2024 13:26

Who on earth would appoint a teacher who would be a laughing-stock from day 1? If he didn't have the sense to work out that this would be the inevitable consequence of all his posturing whilst in Parliament, he isn't fit to teach anyway.

Perfect response

Coruscations · 09/10/2024 13:31

This is the man who said that teachers who opposed Tory policies should be sacked, and attacked "woke warrior teachers" who he alleged were trying to cancel Churchill. The Speaker once threatened to phone his mum about his poor behaviour in the Commons.

I can't think why schools wouldn't want to employ him.
