Just that.

Imagine Mr. Trump is not a happy bunny today.

He has no political experience. What makes him fit to run for President??

Zelensky is doing pretty well.

I think my moody 12 year old would do a better job than Trump so George would do for me!

3luckystars · 12/07/2024 13:10

Keanu Reeves, what a great idea. I’d vote for him!!!

Zonder · 12/07/2024 13:16

CelesteCunningham · 12/07/2024 08:23

Yes but I don't think "It worked for Trump" is a strategy the Democrats will want to follow!

I don't follow US politics closely but they can surely find someone in their existing ranks.

Ha good point. Although in some ways GC would be the antithesis to DT.

justasking111 · 12/07/2024 13:33

I think any actor should cut their teeth as a governor if they're serious about politics.

dottiehens · 12/07/2024 14:11

TheGlassThorn · 11/07/2024 10:00

It's not the 1950s

And you know it's got fuck all to do with anyone else what he does or doesn't do in private with consenting adults.

Oh well only ok if it is democrats. Private life is safe and respected for Dems. One rule for them…

And yes he is closeted but that is the least of the worries. It all links to the area of the world trying to grab power in the US. However, I hope is a joke and speculation.

OK I didn't know she had an issue with alcohol. Wow....

What is her "drink problem"?

with Goldie Hawn as the Senator for Womens Rights -
has anyone heard her speak, on marriage, relationships, in interview
or a Talking Heads monologue? she is eloquent, fierce, fearless, impressive

if only we could decide for the American electorate, as from this safe distance
we clearly know what is best for them

Clooney was speaking for his good friend Obama. Obama wants Biden to withdraw. So does most of the Dem party.

Biden cannot be forced out with the 25th Amendment because then the Republican-led House of Representatives would get to veto any new VP. IOW, VP must be agreed by both houses of Congress. There would be an impasse which would likely be decided by the Supreme Court. A Rep would become Kamala's VP.

The only move the Dems have is to pressure Biden to voluntarily leave, which Jill and Hunter have no intention of doing. Clooney was part of that pressure. The pressure campaign is intensifying and will continue to do so.

It is already too late to get any other names on the ballot in several states, including swing states the Dems must win. They can't afford to forfeit any states. That's why they can't just parachute in Clooney, Michelle O., etc. They hope he will drop out voluntarily before the convention when they could legally replace him with someone other than Kamala.

Since the debate the Dems have been insisting Biden go out repeatedly hoping that he will shit his pants or fall off the stage. He's come close, but is doing just enough to stay in the race. If Biden withdraws then Kamala becomes President immediately. The only problem is that Kamala is widely, and rightly IMO, regarded as a witless moron. Google her "yellow school bus" speech if you don't believe me. Hell, Google any speech of hers. She got her start in politics on her knees (Google Willie Brown) and became Senator from California because she did the will of her Big Tech donors without fail. Those donors, who give billions to the Dems, also got her into the VP slot by threatening not to give unless she was chosen. The party do not believe Kamala can win and do not believe the propaganda polls that say she has a chance. Internal Dem polling shows that she does not.

There's an open civil war going on within the Dem party right now because they have no good options.

Taking this at face value, the Dems are even more stupid and obnoxious than the Republicans. WTF is going in in US politics?

From what I have read his wife is a strong advocate for him staying put. I find this very strange because if you could see your husband was struggling mentally in this very public view surely you would want to persuade him to stop for his own good as anyone would for a loved one?
He is clearly unwell and it is sad for him personally that his last years in politics are all about him being mocked.
I am not saying she is responsible for him but if she secretly thought he should stand down her comments would be more guarded so it appears that she is all for him running.
I can only think his mental condition is affecting his judgement so severely that he can’t see how much he is damaging the democratic cause and that it is not simply pure selfish ambition driving him on. He seems a decent chap so I believe the former.
That being the case those closest to him must intervene for everyones sake.

What happens if it president/vice president dies in office is there an immediate election?

Isn’t it the VP? Followed by the Speaker?

If they all go down in a plane cash it’s a cage fight between Nigel Farage and Justine Roberts, I believe.

When JFK was killed it was the VP.

Big fundraiser for the Democrats. Has come out publicly and said Biden should stand aside. It hadn't occurred to me that he might have political ambitions. Would Americans really vote for Clooney as President? Would he really want to do it?

I think many would not be happy that he moved off to Italy or wherever, so they might not be quick to embrace an actor with no experience in business or politics coming back to this country to run for President.

They voted Ronald Regan in and he was an actor turned politician so why not?

He held office before he ran for President.

Dhruinseeses · 15/07/2024 05:11

I like Kamala Harris very much.

An actor was voted into office previously - Ronald Reagan. Precedent already set.

Oh Geeze! He was Governor of California first and well-loved there.

Absolute steaming bullshit. Maybe your sister isn't as 'well connected' or as much of a Democrat as you believe?

Sad to say it but if Biden stays they are going to lose now, and it will be their own fault.

It’s so much red tape.
