Do you think that George Clooney is testing the water?

Just that.

Imagine Mr. Trump is not a happy bunny today.

I bet they would prefer Clooney

Telephonewiresabove · 11/07/2024 14:30

What in earth has George Clooney done that could possibly make you think that this would work?

Ronald Reagan was a very successful Governor of California prior to
running for President.

newnamethanks · 11/07/2024 15:05

Who cares what George Clooney does with his genitalia? Whatever it is, I expect its less distasteful than grabbing women by the pussy and graphically indulging himself with Stormy Daniels. And he isn't DT. A great recommendation.

Ilovemyshed · 11/07/2024 15:09

To be honest, US politics is so ridiculous anything is possible.

TinySmol · 11/07/2024 15:22

Yes but I still don't understand why closeted men get to tell us what to do, how to vote and what to think.
Why do they get to do that when they're not honest about their personal lives?

Why do they get to leave it to other gay people to risk coming out?
Why do they get to sit back while other gay people who come out have to deal with all the positive and negative attention of coming out?
It's not honest or authentic.

What’s it do with you? Or anyone else for that matter? People are entitled to privacy.

Hear Hear. Mind your own business.

CaveMum · 11/07/2024 15:46

Highly recommend listening to The Rest is Politics US, which drops every Friday.

Anthony Scaramucci was pretty confident last week that Biden will have to go and likely before the end of July. He said he was hearing in Democrat circles that Kamala Harris might be parachuted in to take control until the election and also as the nominee.

On George Clooney, I thought he’d hinted years ago that he had political aspirations.

Edited

I think Biden will have to go but I wouldn't like the Democrats chances at winning with Kamala as the nominee. I may be entirely wrong and doing the lady a disservice but as far as I understood she wasn't necessarily favoured by the electorate.

nommom · 11/07/2024 16:11

Why not anyone would be better than the two on offer.

justasking111 · 11/07/2024 16:16

Reagan cut his teeth on California and turned it round. Clooney PTA perhaps.

So no I think he prefers behind the scenes influence.

Yes I think anyone would be a better choice than the current two, one is obviously unwell and the other is an orange convicted felon. The difficult part might be convincing the American people that voting for someone else might be a better idea.

CaveMum · 11/07/2024 16:35

@TeaMistress i know she’s not popular with a lot of people but Scaramucci seemed adamant that was because she had been confined by the role of VP and unable to be herself. She was a darn good prosecutor by all accounts pre-politics and gave Brett Kavanagh a roasting during his confirmation hearing.

The optics of dropping her in favour of, let’s face it, most likely A N Other white male candidate would play horribly with the Democratic base, so in a lot of ways they don’t have much choice. I’d be interested in an all female ticket - Kamala and maybe someone like Gretchen Whitmer as VP, but I don’t know that America is quite ready for the prospect of “shock horror” women in charge!

"Yes but I still don't understand why closeted men get to tell us what to do,"

Why not? You can call it closeted and dishonest but someone else may just say that people don't want their sexuality up for discussion. Or is it that you have an issue with gay people, or with Democrats?

You're spouting rubbish, unless you've seen the "closeted man" actually having sex with a man, then you don't know shit!

There's rumours they'll parachute Michelle Obama in last minute. Her husband still meets with world leaders on the down low regularly.

I think Michelle Obama has ruled out a politely career . I really like her though. Her autobiography, becoming is worth a read.

’her husband’
So we get Obama pulling the strings and puppet wife ruling the world??? How can anyone think this isn’t bonkers???

She’s categorically said she would never run.

newnamethanks · 12/07/2024 07:45

The situation itself is beyond reason. Any 'solution' is going to be bonkers. The whole thing is utterly insane. I can scarcely credit the USA is blithely striding into electing a fascist who will then abolish elections. And the alternative is nearly as bad. Madness.

EasternStandard · 12/07/2024 07:46

I’ve seen a couple of posts re campaign money only for the two on the ticket so not sure GC or anyone else can stand in

@Bewareofthisonetoo 🤣 really can't see Michelle being a puppet!

An actor was voted into office previously - Ronald Reagan. Precedent already set.

Her drink problem might be an issue.
