Biden. What a disaster!

Rambling! Not coherent. Hesitant. A shambles. Is the USA really going to vote for the current President? Many think he should stand down: but who then? How can he possibly serve for 4 more years? It’s very worrying. What do you think?

“Abuse” is too strong, but cognitive decline may make it hard for him to realize how much his powers have deteriorated. I think someone needs to “take away the car keys.”

Trump is not much younger than Biden. However, revolting though he is, his cognitive powers do not seem to be declining at the same rate. This kind of thing varies from person to person, is very unfair, and is hard to predict.

I’d still far rather Biden was in charge in November, simply because there are presumably people on his team who can pull the strings even as he becomes more and more incapable. However, not enough people may think like me, and it’s clear that the Dems will lose if they keep Biden. He needs to go. Take the car keys away and drop them down a well, seriously.

I think you've got the first part exactly right, @GreenTeaLikesMe.

In an ideal world, at an ideal time, Biden should perhaps be gently led off-stage. If only there were some way for a president to be "demoted" or transfered to a merely advisory position. But, given the alternative, I think any rational person will stil vote fr Biden. Biden on his worst day is more knowledgealbe, with better judgment than Trump on his best day - and Biden has people of integrity, whereas Trump has mostly grifters and sycohants.

I'll disagree on one point. I'm not so sure that Boden's decline is more advanced than Trump's. Trump has, for years, been rambling, incoherent, unhinged. People watching the debate didn't think to compare Biden, who perhaps confused a fact, versus Trump who cited no facts at all. Experts who have studied Trump's speech patterns believe there has been a marked decline.

Personally, I think the immediate problem is that Biden needs a different Vice President, but no one agrees with me.

@MsAmerica Thank you. We love visiting USA and will continue to do so.

i do think a more dynamic VP would help. They have to be in training for president and electable. I hear KH has been quiet.

I think my worry about Trump is that so many Americans don’t seem to care about his lies and what he is. They will vote for him. It seems like an epidemic! Why do people delight in what he says? It is diminishing the USA unfortunately. Now reasonable people have Biden who does appear to be struggling so it’s very difficult. I totally see that.

I meant Biden seemed unable to counter Trump in the debate. He now says he had jet lag so again giving weight to his frailty. Or maybe his schedule was badly planned? Whatever. It came across as poor.

Your saying you'd continue to visit America made me smile, @TizerorFizz. In the middle of Trump's presidency, if I happened to be talking to tourists - if someone had asked me for directions, for instance - I would thank them for visiting in the face of the embarrassment of Trump.

I think that to a certain extent no one can really counter Trump in a debate. Someone refused to debate Robert Kennedy Jrl, saying it was impossible because he kept changing the subject and spouting statements without facts/evidence. I think Trump is the same (plus being a vicious bastard) and the only solution would be real-time fact-checking.
