Rambling! Not coherent. Hesitant. A shambles. Is the USA really going to vote for the current President? Many think he should stand down: but who then? How can he possibly serve for 4 more years? It’s very worrying. What do you think?

Not at all. Obama is endorsing this elderly abuse. It is disturbing and I lost all respect for Obama. It is a real terrible thing. Shocking and shameful.

Abuse of whom? Saying someone isn’t fit for office isn’t abuse! Having a confused president isn’t good enough. Neither is having a lying bully for one. So why can the USA not see this? Or if they do, ensure better candidates. This looks like madness in the uk and alarming.

Whoever supports for Biden to continue is committing elderly abuse. Isn’t it Obama backing him and even head fundraisings with Hollywood starts. However, Biden health was all questioned in 2020. Nothing new we were told he had a stutter and was called MAGA.

Of course the Democrats will fund raise. It’s in their dna. That’s not the same as choosing someone who doesn’t appear capable of doing the job.

It’s pretty clear Biden’s mind isn’t sharp. Cannot be helped, but there it is. What I don’t understand is why the Democrats have been so impotent in finding a replacement and standing up to Biden? I’m all of the USA, how can he be the most suitable person? I know he’s the President but he’s not up to another 4 years. At least Reagan looked ok after 4 years even if by 7-8 he wasn’t. Biden is not ok after 4.

Yes, no one can explain or answer why they do not get their act together and choose a capable person even back in 2020. They were dishonest even then.

Looking at a friend who has dementia (not Alzheimer’s) it’s definitely similar. Friend is more advanced but Biden seemed unable to engage with the topics or call out lies. Thats similar to our friend about not fully engaging. It seemed robotic. The personality wasn’t there. It won’t get any better, so what then if he wins?

Biden has announced he was exhausted from international travel! He nearly fell asleep during the debate! How can this be ok? Has it taken him all this time to wake up?

It is a big problem that Biden is mentally impaired and unfit for office. If he isn’t the democrats should have a formal cognitive assessment performed and release the results (they won’t). This is democracy dying in the shadows because of course if the man you elect isn’t making the decisions then who is?
it has been obvious to some for a long time he is mentally impaired, the media have been reluctant to report before now. I suspect they will parachute in Newsome but it should be clear to anyone what kind of party the democrats have become. Not one that respects democracy or the rule of law.

Actually, yes, @MomOf1Rotty. If your identity as having Hispanic background is important to you, then yes, you should vote Democrat, as they are the party that has consistently championed minority rights. I realize that it's possible that in recent years minorities have focused more on money, but I'm not sure how wise that is, and certainly not wise to align with a candidate who has consistently denigrated minorities.
I happened to see a Trump television commercial in Spanish and was appalled. It was basically a scene of happy Hispanics dancing with a caption of something like "The good life with Trump." In other words, they had such contempt for their audience that they didn't make the slightest attempt to provide anything factual.

The poster was providing a link to the Associated Press, a newswire, not left-leaning by any stretch of the imagination.

@MomOf1Rotty, you keep saying "Know your history" - but provide nothing specific. This sounds as silly as the right-wingers who yelp "Do your own research," as if they expect every citizen to troop to the White House to interview the president.

I'll just mention a few quick things.

1.I don't think anyone thinks there is no other suitable Dem. The issue isn't suitability. The issue is beating Trump. As an example, more suitable Republicans fell by the wayside just because there seemed to be no way to counter Trump's lies and venom. The problem is time - to get a new face out there. That's partly why my idea idea is that he needs a different VP.

2.People do indeed care about Trump's outrageous statements. The problem is that his followers don't care. In fact, the things that disgust normal people - his bigotry, his vulgarity, his lawlessness - delight them.

3.It's not simply that Biden can't shoot down lies, but rather that the internet has created a situation where Trumpers live in their own echo chamber and deny the truth, and the lies online are impossible to stop. Have you heard the expression: "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its pants”?

i do think a more dynamic VP would help. They have to be in training for president and electable. I hear KH has been quiet.

I think my worry about Trump is that so many Americans don’t seem to care about his lies and what he is. They will vote for him. It seems like an epidemic! Why do people delight in what he says? It is diminishing the USA unfortunately. Now reasonable people have Biden who does appear to be struggling so it’s very difficult. I totally see that.

I meant Biden seemed unable to counter Trump in the debate. He now says he had jet lag so again giving weight to his frailty. Or maybe his schedule was badly planned? Whatever. It came across as poor.

It makes Sunak and Starmer seem like a dream choice doesn't it! Very sad with Biden. What I wonder is, who is actually in charge with Biden as "president"?

I can't imagine why you'd say Biden was a criminal - and I note that you provide no examples, no sources. Which makes me wonder where you get your news - probably not trustworthy outlets.

As to his effectiveness, he's already getting a pretty good rating from political historians. There is a general relief not waking up every morning to hear of some vulgar lawless outrage, as was happening with Trump.

By the way, in terms of "elderly" - Trump is roughly the same age.

“Abuse” is too strong, but cognitive decline may make it hard for him to realize how much his powers have deteriorated. I think someone needs to “take away the car keys.”

Trump is not much younger than Biden. However, revolting though he is, his cognitive powers do not seem to be declining at the same rate. This kind of thing varies from person to person, is very unfair, and is hard to predict.

I’d still far rather Biden was in charge in November, simply because there are presumably people on his team who can pull the strings even as he becomes more and more incapable. However, not enough people may think like me, and it’s clear that the Dems will lose if they keep Biden. He needs to go. Take the car keys away and drop them down a well, seriously.

I think Trumps cognitive powers are equally as diminished. He just shows it in a different way. I mean the shark boat battery thing demonstrated that pretty well. I rarely watch anything he says because he makes me nauseous but the decline is huge from several years ago and he is UNSAFE due to his arrogance and narcissism AND impaired which is a dangerous combination
