If there was a GE today who would you vote for?

Bit cheeky but I’m curious to see if there are genuinely any Tory voters out there at all following another disastrous week for Rishi Sunak.

So who would get your vote?

I‘ll go first, I would vote Labour. As much as I would love to hear more on policy and a firm grittiness from them, I do understand that Keir Starmer is doing the best he can, in that he can’t alienate a large proportion of the electorate so needs to toe the line.

I feel like there’s a right answer and a wrong answer here!
My answer is that I simply don’t know. I have major concerns about all 3 major parties. In truth though I live in a safe Tory seat so it doesn’t matter who I vote for 😒

TidyDancer · 23/09/2023 20:11

I really don't know. I couldn't bring myself to vote Tory because they are so awful on so many things I care about and will affect people I love. Our local Tory MP is a terrible waste of time as well so that doesn't help.

But I won't vote for a party that is weak on women's rights so I've really got no clue what I would do right now.

JaneDubai · 23/09/2023 20:11

I'm a high earner, I couldn't with good conscience vote for the Tories, they have failed us.

tedgran · 23/09/2023 20:11

No one, pissed off with Tories about flip flopping on the environment, and neither of the other two understand science. In our council elections last year I wrote "if you want my x, respect my sex" on my ballot paper. The dreadful Libdems will probably win in this constituency anyway, they've been here for years.

Greengrassohla · 23/09/2023 20:13

Conservatives

Pourmeanotherwine · 23/09/2023 20:15

Probably labour, maybe green. I'm in a very safe Labour seat ( been labour since 1935!), so no risk of the Tories getting in here lol.

Ddimynswr · 23/09/2023 20:15

Cannot believe there are still people who vote Tory after the past 13 years. Absolutely shocking.

FloydPepper · 23/09/2023 20:15

I think anyone who can say they’ll still vote conservative at the moment is basically saying that policies, track record, and competence, don’t matter to them. It’s unfathomable why anyone would support the current conservative party

grayhairdontcare · 23/09/2023 20:15

I honestly couldn't vote for any of them at the moment.so I would not vote

PictureFrameWindow · 23/09/2023 20:17

Clearly Labour.

I'm poorer than ever under the Tories and their strategic incompetence (which just happens to enrich their cronies).

FloydPepper · 23/09/2023 20:17

Greengrassohla · 23/09/2023 20:13

Conservatives

Interested to hear why. Genuinely, not looking to have a go.

Todayiscool · 23/09/2023 20:18

Tactical Lib Dem as they are the only visible opposition where we are.

But basically ABC. Anyone. But. Conservative.

87SPD · 23/09/2023 20:20

I would be genuinely interested to hear why those saying they will vote Tory will do so?

Honestly really curious as to why you would vote conservative after the past 13 years.

Also understand the fatigue with politics and the ‘not voting’ people but surely you want to use your democratic power to make change? This current governments culture war has clearly worked otherwise by making you believe everyone is like them and can’t be trusted which I don’t believe is the case.

i’m the same; anyone but these conservatives

Probably conservative, I cannot vote Labour as they seem intent on penalising middle earners.

If you're saying this, you're probably not a middle earner at all. You might not feel well off - who does at the moment - but the average household income (not individual salary, but for the whole house) was £38j
K.

Babyroobs · 23/09/2023 20:02

This is how I feel really too.

And me. The tories are really bad. Labour will be even worse. We are screwed.

sashagabadon · 23/09/2023 20:23

I think it’s been a good week for rishi and a bad week for Keir!
funny how people can view the same thing’s completely differently

PictureFrameWindow · 23/09/2023 20:24

Struggling to see how you know Labour will be worse than the Boris / Liz combo?

twistyizzy · 23/09/2023 20:24

Greens

comfyoldcardi · 23/09/2023 20:25

I have no party to vote for. I am absolutely disgusted with all of them.

yogasaurus · 23/09/2023 20:26

No one, at the moment. None of them speak to me.

Resigned to paying even more tax for even less after the next GE

Exactly this! I don’t think people realise how low the average household wage is right now compared to the cost of living. It’s a dire situation for the country and an eye watering gap between the rich and poor in society. We are in 2023, we have technology at our fingertips, we need innovation, ambition and drive. At the minute it’s like living in a dystopian society just doom and gloom at every corner.

bozzabollix · 23/09/2023 20:27

Labour. They are the second party round here after Conservatives, but I’d vote tactically to get them out. They need to go.

Anyone who thinks we need another term of them has had their eyes and ears closed for the past thirteen years.

yogasaurus · 23/09/2023 20:28

We are in 2023, we have technology at our fingertips, we need innovation, ambition and drive.

Who is promising this? No one is promising this?

Because the idea of Kier Starmer is terrifying. The tories are incompetant, arrogant shits but kier is even worse, to be honest its a rock and a hard place. I think most people are politically homeless, Ive never known it so bad.
