Utterly debased herself with her unabashed, brown-nosed sycophancy, only to be cast offf like trash when it comes to rewards for the boys.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer woman.

@Piggywaspushed Sorry! Here’s a better photo plus the rest of the article.

Interesting, thanks. That suggests to me that that poll disproportionately represents people who live in Flitwick and Ampthill as Mackey is a councillor there. I can't genuinely see how he would gain that share!

TizerorFizz · 02/07/2023 20:28

I am not sure what he’s standing for. A “none of the above “ candidate maybe? I think the main headline is Labour could win it. However a split anti Tory vote is dangerous. The opposition should unite (do a pact) if they want to be sure but that’s asking a lot!

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2023 20:31

Nor me. I just know he's a local councillor.

saraclara · 02/07/2023 20:47

To be fair to Mackey, he's an excellent councillor, works really hard, and gets things done. As a person he deserves to stand. But I wish he wasn't doing so, because he'll split the vote. I suspect that those uncomfortable with voting 'but Tory' for the first time may well.vote for him. But we need them to vote Labour or Lib Dem if we're going to elect a non-Tory.

Mackey's not going to win, because he's only really known in the Flitwick and villages area. There's not a single independent in the commons who was elected as such. Independents just don't win in General/by-elections.

saraclara · 02/07/2023 20:48

"Uncomfortable with voting NOT Tory" rather.

TizerorFizz · 03/07/2023 00:07

They preferably need one party only trying to win the seat from the Tories. Labour didn’t stand in Chesham and Amersham by election leaving the Lib Dems to win. In mid Beds do both L and LD think they can win?

Grantanow · 17/07/2023 17:26

Oh please, please, no more Dorries.

TizerorFizz · 17/07/2023 21:09

What’s the latest? Has she resigned?

TizerorFizz · 30/07/2023 23:21

I can now answer that. No. On the news tonight. She’s bonkers.

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2023 06:41

Have you see the letter Flitwick Town Council wrote tizer?

What did she say on the news?

TizerorFizz · 31/07/2023 11:05

@Piggywaspushed I did see what was written. She seemed to say on the radio that there was “new info” and she was staying so she could fight it. Probably means she has no lucrative job offers. Not sure if the voters can arrange a petition or not in the circumstances.

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2023 11:09

She is an embarrassment!

TizerorFizz · 31/07/2023 14:17

@Piggywaspushed She certainly is. Political parties are not the best at choosing representatives. Given there are so few mp jobs, it’s amazing how many are poor!!

QueueEtwo · 01/08/2023 18:31

That 'With immediate effect'so not immediate is it?

Still there, still being paid, not a single visit to the House of Commons!

She must be incredibly busy in her constituency, holding clinics, fighting the causes of the people who elected her? 🤔

Honestly if I had voted for her I would be absolutely furious!

TizerorFizz · 01/08/2023 22:13

@Piggywaspushed Is no one organising a recall petition?

Apparently, think I read it in the Guardian last week, she hasn’t held a surgery in years, doesn’t live in the area, has shown zero interest in local affairs. Seems like there is no point to her.

TizerorFizz · 01/08/2023 22:28

So why no recall petition?

TizerorFizz · 01/08/2023 22:32

Following a standards committee suspension. Surely she must be suspended??

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 25/08/2023 14:29

Why on earth are they letting her get away with it? Between her and Johnson, we are under no illusion these days about the apparently huge amounts of hard work undertaken by MPs.

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2023 18:09

She's gone. Halleluia!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 26/08/2023 18:09

And good riddance to bad rubbish, it now transpires!

EyelessArseFace · 26/08/2023 18:57

Hallelujah and good riddance.

I bet I know what's going to happen round these parts now though. All the sensible votes will be split too evenly between L and LD, and the bloody Tories will get in yet again.

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2023 19:07

Yes I worry about this too.

Peakypolly · 26/08/2023 19:10

I would imagine her slating Sunak will be the best thing that has happened to him whilst being PM.
