Utterly debased herself with her unabashed, brown-nosed sycophancy, only to be cast offf like trash when it comes to rewards for the boys.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer woman.

Can the constituency not organise a recall petition? The new candidate can resign but must be unsure about when an election will be. Shame the idiots in the seat kept voting for her!

I've always thought that my vote in her constituency was pointless, because it's so Tory here. But I'm honestly (maybe over-optimistically) wondering if that could change this time round

TizerorFizz · 30/06/2023 23:25

I have met Conservative voters from your area and they are not happy. I don’t live that far away. I think the natural protest might be Lib dems like Amersham. But we will see.

saraclara · 30/06/2023 23:44

Ha. This evening I had someone canvassing for the Tories turn up at my door! I laughed, told her that there was no chance, there was absolutely nothing she could say to me, and that I'd be voting anything but Tory. To be fair to her, she smiled and just said "I'll leave you in peace then!" and left.

Piggywaspushed · 01/07/2023 08:10

Still not had anything other than LibDem leaflets here.

TizerorFizz · 01/07/2023 09:12

The bigger problem is how MPs are chosen. They get loads of candidates but choose Nadine Dorries!

Mid Beds Tories don't exactly have a great track record in choosing parliamentary candidates - the last one before ND was the oleaginous Jonathan Sayeed.

I wish they'd just tell her enough is enough. She's messing them around something chronic at the moment.

Does anyone know the date ND actually last set foot in her constituency? If she's due a visit, I'll get the stocks put out on the village green.

TizerorFizz · 01/07/2023 10:29

As I understand it she announced she was going but didn’t officially resign. I don’t know what the rules are!!! Is it meant to be in writing??

blacksax · 01/07/2023 10:44

The trouble with Mid Bedfordshire is that it takes a lot to change ingrained opinions and long-term habits.

It is still a relatively rural area with a large population of inbred half-witted land-owning old money and inbred half-witted brussel-picking yokels, and in recent decades incomers have tended to be loadsamoney half-witted smart-alec Audi drivers. All of whom traditionally vote Tory.

One can only hope...

Eyesopenwideawake · 01/07/2023 10:50

Any regular listeners to James O'Brien will know he's got a new feature "Dorries Watch" where he counts the days since she announced she was resigning 'with immediate effect' yet is still to actually step down. Think it's currently at 22 days 🙄

You realise quite a lot of us on the thread live in mid Beds, right??

To be fair, when she was chosen she wasn't 'Nadine Dorries off reality TV, infamous dimwit, and terrible novelist' and she lived in the constituency.

Is her “waiting to resign” watch going to last longer than the Liz Truss lettuce though? Could well do, on current form.

As do I. 😂

TizerorFizz · 01/07/2023 13:29

@Piggywaspushed She really was an infamous dimwit back then! She’s just enhanced this reputation!

TizerorFizz · 02/07/2023 09:05

@saraclara Opinion poll published today is predicting the Tories lose. They face the biggest by election defeat in history says the Telegraph.

That would be amazing, given the political history here. Who are they predicting will take the seat? I'm going to be voting tactically, so my vote will go to whoever is most likely to win.

TizerorFizz · 02/07/2023 09:34

@saraclara Labour.

Nadine Dorries
saraclara · 02/07/2023 09:56

Thanks @TizerorFizz .

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2023 10:04

I don't know that particular polling company but it does strike me that The Telegraph announcing this is interesting. A strategy to terrify Tory voters/leaners with the prospect of - gasps- a Labour MP might get them holding their nose and voting Tory.

Other things I have seen suggest the Lib Dems will take the seat.

I am still a flummoxed voter who does not know where to place my tactical vote. This one poll won't convince me.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2023 10:25

Done some digging:

Opinium's most recent success in political polling came at the 2019 UK General Election where they were the most accurate agency, calling the actual results. In the 2016 EU Referendum, Opinium were the only agency to predict the eventual outcome with the smallest error.

TizerorFizz · 02/07/2023 10:56

@Piggywaspushed I think it’s just one poll. I do think where the result of it is published is a call to arms! No doubt other polls will follow. There is a pattern is for strong Tory seats to go Lib Dem for a protest. Also this is a by election. Might be different for GE in 2024/5. That’s quite often a pattern too.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2023 11:03

By the time she actually resigns, it might be a GE....

MumofTwins234 · 02/07/2023 11:14

Has she gone yet?

What is she waiting for..? A humiliating report on why she was refused a seat in the House of Lords? Is she going to find out that Boris never put her forward in the first place?

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2023 11:19

Where are the Lib Dems in that poll tizer? The name that is just cut off isn't the LD candidate.
