Why is Osborne texting Matt Hancock?

Have been reading the WhatsApp messages between Matt Hancock and various people during 2020, including some funny ones from George Osborne.

But hang on...why was he even messaging him? George Osborne wasn't in the cabinet at the time, wasn't even an MP. He was editor of the Evening Standard. Isn't it a bit weird that they are messaging?

No. It's not weird they were texting. They're all buddies and cronies and all the rest of it. Lots and lots of inappropriate icky things as a result but the fact that they know each other and text is not in itself weird.

Well it says why, he's pushing for more front page coverage? They'll all move in the same circles so I don't think it's that unusual that they're messaging each other.

George osbourne was editor of evening standard, a paper given out for free all over London’s tube network so of course Matt Hancock would be in contact to get publicity.
Hancock should be praised for getting the testing up in April 2020. The testing in my london hospital was massively improved for example. He had to build the whole thing from scratch.
George Osborne dismissive reply makes me realise how so many people wanted him / Boris to fail.

I think Hancock used to work for Osborne so probably know each other quite well

I read it as them being part of a WhatsApp group together. But I guess they might all be separate chats. Maybe I am thinking of Private Eye
