Let's talk about the Lib Dems

Tories have been a train wreck so that is a big no for my vote. Labour seems a very divided party and all mouth no bite so again so sure they can win my vote this time round as they have done equally questionable things I the pass such as declaring an illegal war and antisemitism in the party etc. I hate that it is always only one of these 2 incompetent parties that seem to have a shot.

So Lib Dem. Are they worthy of an attempt at running the country? I am quite impressed with the suggestions on water company overhauls following sewage dumps for a start.

Further left than Labour, in bed ( literally and metaphorically) with the Greens, who are about as TRA as you can get ( google Challenor ).

twinkletoesimnot · 06/11/2022 14:19

Based on what they have said about £300 a months grants to home owners rather than fixing the housing crisis - no.

Zerogravity · 06/11/2022 14:20

I used to vote Libdem and campaign for them. Quite frankly, I have given up on them due to their gender ideology policy. My mum is the same. She was called a bigot by a young Libdem activist for not agreeing that stating pronouns is a good idea. I will not be voting for them again.

notmyrealmoniker · 06/11/2022 14:25

Totally overtaken by ridiculous gender issues and crazy ideology.

I always voted LD until the general election when they said they would unilaterally overturn the referendum vote on Brexit. Not because I am in favour of Brexit but because I am in favour of democracy and this arrogent statement appalled me. How can you just tell a voting majority you're taking no notice of them.

arethereanyleftatall · 06/11/2022 14:25

Used to vote for them. Never will vote for any politician who says a man can be a woman. If they are prepared to lie about that - and we all know nobody actually thinks men can be women, so those who say it are simply lying for whatever their own reason is - then I don't trust them on anything.

MurmurationOfDinosaurs · 06/11/2022 14:40

I used to be a very active Lib Dem and I know a fair few of their MPs / Council Leaders / councillors. I started to withdraw from active duties when the Lord Rennard debacle blew up.

Not only did they let women down then, but they have found a new way of doing it now. They are completely captured by utter gender woo bullshit, and it's worrying how even their councillors who know that they are acting as corporate parents are disregarding children's safeguarding best practice.

As a pp said, if they are prepared to lie about this, what else will they do in the name of crackpot ideology?

Why don't they care about women's rights and children's safeguarding? MPs like Daisy Cooper (St Alban's) and Alistair Carmichael (Orkney and Shetland) are far from stupid, so why are they going along with this crackpot conflation of sexual orientation with 'gender identity'? I don't believe for a minute that Daisy fully buys into it. And I doubt that Alistair bangs on about it much in his constituency.

So dishonest. So damaging. The Lib Dems were the Opposition once ...

lljkk · 06/11/2022 14:47

They can only get some power at national level by going into coalition & voters hugely punished them for that 2010-15. LibDems is party I want to support but my vote won't count for much give the ridiculous & immature attitude of electorate about coalition govts.

I suspect both me & OP will be eternally dissatisfied.

HappinesDependsOnYou · 08/11/2022 11:39

I hadn't done much reading into their policies but no need to as now I'm convinced they are also a no. Ah who on earth are we supposed to vote for when they are all equally s£#t? 😩
