So they have announced an NI hike of 1.25% for all. Including the countries lowest paid workers.

Surely it would be much fairer to raise the upper earnings limit (around £4500 per month) where NI deductions drop from 12% to a measly 2%.

That would raise a hell of a lot more money and be so much fairer! Rather than increasing contributions for the millions already struggling after lockdown, furlough, rising fuel prices etc etc.

Devils advocate: I should think lower earners are far more likely to use the NHS, access council care services etc. than high earners who are more likely to go private for this sort of stuff?

Jesus Carrie, you jumped on the thread quick.

OP it's an outrage.

The Tories were never going to increase the taxes for the elderly or the wealthy, as most of them vote Tory.

Of course they're gunning for the young and the low paid, who by and large either don't vote, or don't vote Tory.

When the time comes for another election they know they can rely on their friends in the media to gloss over this, or put a positive spin on it.
