His platform is one of stopping all non-EU migration into France for 3 - 5 years, except students and refugees, because the banlieues are such a breeding ground for crime and terrorist activity. Sounds like Marine is going to have competition on her own territory. Anyone in France (or elsewhere) have an opinion on how successful he is going to be?

I had no idea he was that right wing.
Does this mean hes competing against marine and macron?

Won't freedom of movements be big issue with France restricting who comes in.
Who do they wish to restrict. No eu citizens?
I always got impression other European countries had greater immigration and refugees than France.
Also get impressions from other side of channel they quite anti Islam.

Makes sense why he's talking about Jersey now its a vote winner.

France had a huge post-colonial immigration wave from their North and West African empire after 1957. Several hundred thousand North Africans moved to France and settled in and around Paris. The same story in lots of southern France, in areas that people don't generally visit as tourists. Many, not all, have failed to become French. They moved in numbers and many have not integrated at all. Many of the poorer areas around the centre of Paris are full of tower blocks occupied by increasingly radical Islamists.

Some years ago, we regularly visited a small town in the Gard province (just behind the Mediterranean) near Arles, Avignon and St Remy. The Front Nationale won every single election by a mile.

@3asAbird, I think it's interesting that everyone on MN thinks the UK is racist in attitudes to new arrivals and tells everyone how much better or more welcoming other countries are to immigrants. Actually, the UK is far more welcoming, diverse and genuinely multicultural than any other country in Europe.
