That's right, 'Boris' done a VERY BIG majority so you don't have to worry so much about Labour (and yet you do..)

We definitely dodged a bullet by choosing Boris

Or maybe y'all shot yourselves in the foot? Time will tell..

WeSavedSallySally · 03/02/2020 19:11

Well teams have been pouring over every deal the eu has made with other countries so they will know what other countries agreed too.

I'm very pleased Boris is being unequivocal.

Coppersulphate · 03/02/2020 19:18

Boris said he would get Brexit done and he did.
I reckon he will get this trade deal done on our terms.

But Nissan are talking about expanding production here and closing their plant in Barcelona. They want to out compete the French manufacturers.
And the German airline is planning extra flights to Newcastle.
Sounds good to me.
I voted for Boris as leader and I am very pleased 😀😀😀😀

Walkingdeadfangirl · 03/02/2020 19:22

I thought he did quite well in the webchat
He was able to give answers that didn't offend many people apart from women and he ticked many boxes.

But that could all have been written by a well programmed robot. Where was the individuality, the big bold vision, the new ideas, the charisma, the optimism. He is never going to be a 'man' of the people. Isn't he just a greyer better presented Corbyn?

Maybe I am just comparing him to Boris to much ...

WeSavedSallySally · 03/02/2020 19:22

Maybe we have arse.

Maybe we have.

I'd prefer to shoot myself in the foot than be shot by the eu firing squad.

Coppersulphate · 03/02/2020 19:23

We want a partnership based on trade.
Not based on workers'rights.....ours are better
Maternity pay and leave.....ours are better
Environmental issues.....ours are better.

State Aid....France and Germany have more.
The EU are scared we will out compete them.
Don't blame them because we will 😂😂😂😂😂🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦🇦🇺

Arseaboutdarkly · 03/02/2020 19:26

I'd prefer to shoot myself in the foot than be shot by the eu firing squad

Err, yes of course Confused

SilverySurfer · 03/02/2020 19:26

I support what Boris has done so far and his plans for the future. He is exactly what we needed to get Brexit started and for the negotiations ahead. He has made our position clear and we are not prepared to be tied to EU rules and laws. It's the very reason why the majority who voted, chose to leave.

It's a long wait for the crowning of a new Labour leader but be assured that I shall take every opportunity to critique their performance, not as PM of course, I think that a new leader may be required by the time they actually win an election.

Coppersulphate · 03/02/2020 19:26

I love the thought of comparing Sir Static to Boris.

Boris is dynamic, cheerful, positive and has a sense of fun. (remember Dilyn receiving the Spectator award)

Sir Static is as his name implies. And grey. And dull.

WeSavedSallySally · 03/02/2020 19:27

Also as I said many of us are swing voters, and many of us, infact I think nealry every poster on here has said any government needs a strong opposition so again..

Your preaching to the choir I cant fathom what your trying to get at.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 03/02/2020 19:28

I'd prefer to shoot myself in the foot than be shot by the eu firing squad

I tried to shoot myself in the foot but I missed 🤣

WeSavedSallySally · 03/02/2020 19:29

Sense of humour is a vital isn't it's copper.

Sense of humours, positivity, exuberance, and someone who actually seems to like our country!

Arseaboutdarkly · 03/02/2020 19:31

Boris is dynamic, cheerful, positive and has a sense of fun

Gosh yes, he's well known for his love of 'fun'.

Not what I look for in a Prime Minister though

WeSavedSallySally · 03/02/2020 19:33

Oh well.

Obviously millions of people decided they wanted boris s mug on 📺 for 5 years not Corbyns.

Limitedsimba123 · 03/02/2020 19:33

So all leavers on here would prefer no deal WTO terms to agreeing LPF commitments if non agreement is insurmountable for the EU? Agreeing to them still allows us to diverge elsewhere of course. I find that surprising as I thought on earlier Arms threads most posters agreed with TM’s deal, preferred it to no deal, and were angry at Parliament for blocking it? She was much more pragmatic when it came to frictionless trade and I think it’s regrettable that labour didn’t back the deal, considering. I certainly reluctantly supported it and only really started to oppose Brexit once Boris became PM.

SingingLily · 03/02/2020 19:34

I'd prefer to shoot myself in the foot than be shot by the eu firing squad

No, I'd wait for the EU to do it. By the time they got all 27 to agree (plus the Walloons), they'd spend another few years arguing about gun and bullet manufacturing regulations, dummy up a few leaky budgets, move the circus back and forth between Brussels and Strasbourg for a few more years...then I'd lodge an appeal with the ECJ.

By the time they reached even a QMV, I'd have died of old age. Or boredom.

Better Off Out Grin

Arseaboutdarkly · 03/02/2020 19:35

And millions didn't but there it is, such is our system and it's easy to change the channel!

WeSavedSallySally · 03/02/2020 19:39

😂 Very true singing.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 03/02/2020 19:40

I want a PM who can relate to me and who I can relate to. If they cant demonstrate a sense of humour then a lot of the public will just see an expensive grey suit. Maybe that would have worked in the days of the radio but this is the era of 24/7 plugged into the matrix.

And that is why Sir Static would just be a placeholder until a woman someone better comes along.

Limitedsimba123 · 03/02/2020 19:41

Copper the article from FT re Nissan, it was one of several contingency plans they had and they are quoted in the article as saying their entire business in U.K. and Eu is unsustainable if we trade on WTO tariffs. Hope it comes off for Sunderland’s sake however, although I think their aim of achieving 20% market share is very unlikely.

WeSavedSallySally · 03/02/2020 19:41

I have no idea limited, its been a fluid situation, with people shifting allegiances and alliances minute by minute.

At one point Farage and corybn waltzed together as did Blair and Cummings and all sorts....

DustyDiamond · 03/02/2020 19:42

I find that surprising as I thought on earlier Arms threads

This is only the 3rd Westminster Arms thread btw

OP posts:
Coppersulphate · 03/02/2020 19:43

Sorry, but no Singing,
They'd realise they needed to import component parts for the guns from the UK and ask us, ever so politely for a deal.

Coppersulphate · 03/02/2020 19:44

And then they'd ask our Army to train them to use the guns.

Limitedsimba123 · 03/02/2020 19:44

Come on you know what I meant. This is the Brexit Arms in all but name, the punters certainly haven’t changed.
