That is indeed part of the problem, Mary, as well as overfishing. The EU had committed to stop overfishing in 2020 because of the damaging effect on sustainability but The Guardian reported in December that an EU meeting to review quotas was derailed by member states wanting their own way.

Not Thornberry!

Last I heard, she was still struggling for nominations although the closing date is not for another ten days or so.

It's so last decade & is tedious

And yet so true.

Arseaboutdarkly · 02/02/2020 16:40

Of course not Thornberry, she hasn't got a hope.

EpicIndividual · 02/02/2020 16:43

Went off to something else and now two pages of posts! Need to catch up! Any news @GreenishMe? xx

The mega trawlers are terrifying, the damage they do takes decades for the sea bed to recover from, of course this isn’t just limited to EU fishing, but it certainly isn’t helped by it. Where is Greta when you need her?

GreenishMe · 02/02/2020 16:48

Ty everyone....he's just phoned back

Thoughts are with those affected

SingingLily · 02/02/2020 16:50

That's a relief, Greenish.

And yes, let's hope for the best.

MarySidney · 02/02/2020 16:52

EpicIndividual · 02/02/2020 16:53

Oh thank goodness Greenish! What a relief!

MarySidney · 02/02/2020 16:57

Who do you think would be the best option, then, Arseabout?

bellinisurge · 02/02/2020 17:02

Lisa Nandy.

EpicIndividual · 02/02/2020 17:06

Well that was weird... 🤔

SingingLily · 02/02/2020 17:06

😂

DustyDiamond · 02/02/2020 17:06

😱😂

bellinisurge · 02/02/2020 17:10

You asked a question to another poster. I answered before they did. What is the problem with that?

EpicIndividual · 02/02/2020 17:13

😉😂😂

bellinisurge · 02/02/2020 17:14

Seriously, what's the problem?

Arseaboutdarkly · 02/02/2020 17:23

Who do you think would be the best option, then, Arseabout?

Starmer

Bellinisurge - it's just the pots a-rattling, don't be alarmed

Walkingdeadfangirl · 02/02/2020 17:25

I hope there is no more remain vs leave.
Although the SNP are now angry leavers,
... the LibDems are pansexual rejoiners,
... Labour might be white noise for 5 years,
... and everyone else is 'just' a British Citizen.

But rejoiners will soon get tired of throwing away their 50p's & they will stop caring about the colour of their passports.

The more we diverge and the longer we are independent the harder it will be for the SNP to make the case for leaving the Union. Cant wait for them to argue to destroy their brand new revitalised fishing industry.

bellinisurge · 02/02/2020 17:27

Thanks @Arseaboutdarkly . They'll probably get the bleach out in a minute. To show what a friendly, non- partisan pub this is.

DustyDiamond · 02/02/2020 17:27

Am waiting for the full house now 🃏

This thread has been great today! 😂 Thanks all, I’ve enjoyed having a giggle. Don’t sweat it Bellini, it just looked really funny. 😉

DustyDiamond · 02/02/2020 17:29

That's what I'm looking forward to as well walking...

How is Wee Nippy & co going to make the case for giving away the fishing rights?!
