I've just seen Farage last speech and it's nothing less than a we can expect from the him.
The lady in the chair, I cringed watching her. Like a head mistress and not the way to finish up the end of the road for the UK.

Telling me them to put flags away on our last ever sitting in the parliament smacked of petty bitterness.

She should have thanked Farage for his speech, Riley said they would miss his speeches... With a wink.. Thanked the UK for their deep pockets and numerous other contributions over the years... And look forward to going forwards in friendship.

I must eat my earlier words about none of the potential labour leaders saying anything about our future out of the EU.

Now Labour must end the leave-remain divide. Another future is possible

Just read that RLB has paid a lot of money to have front teeth straightened at a private clinic.
NHS not good enough.

But like Sami shackrabati (Sp?) sending her son to Dulwich College (where Nigel Farage went) and Diane Abbot sending her son to the City ofLondon College, it the hypocrisy that annoys me.

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 18:33

Copper I doubt the NHS would pay for an adult to have their teeth straightened? if it's a case of paying the same amount to NHS or private I can see why you'd go private - especially if you see it as saving the NHS some space for a patient with a non-cosmetic dental need.

Sallysaved · 30/01/2020 18:33

I was also in the 1997 bubble and to my shame on I also voted for Blair.

I've always seen boris a rumblings forward as the blonde bubbly toddler breaking free of the grey monotony behind him running to splash in the puddle 😂💦.

I'm an optimist dh the remainer is definitely more cautious and pessimistic.

I also think whatever most people think of the eu... They also don't think the UK is generally a bad country. Lots of people have pride in the UK.

Something corybn didn't seem to share.

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 18:35

I was 21 in 1997 and voted for Blair.

Look how well that worked out!!

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 18:42

I'm going to ask a question that will probably get me panned by the haters, but oh well...

the minimum earnings level for non-EU workers - is that actually meant to be in place at the present time, or was it just something that got talked about? Thanks.

Coppersulphate · 30/01/2020 18:49

Autumn, I completely agree with you about private dentistry.
But I think it is then the height of hypocrisy to the complain about the NHS being privatised

SingingLily · 30/01/2020 19:01

the minimum earnings level for non-EU workers

It's still being discussed, Autumn, although there are proposals to reduce it from Theresa's £30k minimum because...health workers.

Sorry I misunderstood before Smile and hope you have your feet up after another tough day.

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 19:06

Lily not till about 9pm. So the £30k is already in place? I presume it can’t be as yet?

Copper I see them as separate issues. Or has RLB said “no one should use private dentists” which would be different?

SingingLily · 30/01/2020 19:19

So the £30k is already in place?

Only for non-EU migrants, Autumn. That was a legacy from TM's days in the Home Office but it's unworkable from an NHS point of view so the Migration Advisory Council is proposing it be reset at £25,600 and applied to both EU and non-EU migrants.

Until 11pm tomorrow, EU migrants retain FoM.

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 19:21

So the non- EU staff I meet regularly are all earning over £30k?

Maybe there’s there a self employed loophole here that I’m missing.

I am going to finish my shift with some actual work 😂 so I might not see you all till tomorrow, which will be a lovely morning 😀

Coppersulphate · 30/01/2020 19:32

Autumn, RLB has complained about private health care.

SingingLily · 30/01/2020 19:32

So the non- EU staff I meet regularly are all earning over £30k?

Unless they have Tier 2 visas or entered the UK before the minimum salary requirement.

The policy seems to have more holes than a piece of Swiss cheese. Probably best it's being scrapped and replaced Smile

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 19:34

I’m still here 😱

Will look up RLB comments on private treatment.

Yes, seems to be the answer is self employed.

Sallysaved · 30/01/2020 19:35

Can we actually start trade deal talks after tomorow or is there something else we have to wait for?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 30/01/2020 19:54

We can start trade deal talks on Saturday. But for some reason the EU say they are not ready and need to wait another month before they will be able to get going.

I think shenanigans.

SingingLily · 30/01/2020 19:59

Mike Pompeo says the US wants to wrap up a trade deal with us by November.

Sallysaved · 30/01/2020 20:15

Finally!! Finally!!!

Dapplegrey · 30/01/2020 20:51

it the hypocrisy that annoys me.

Me too, copper.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 30/01/2020 20:54

Remember the days when remainers/project fear/Obama etc all said we would be back of the queue. Well I have 17 million somethings to give them tomorrow.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 30/01/2020 21:23

Any one watched the C4 film / documentary Farage: The Man Who Made Brexit?

I have just seen it and it was not what I was expecting. It is very neutral/unbiased (obviously from Farages pov though) has a lot of very interesting behind the scene footage. Its actually very good, would recommended it for all.

Not spoiling anything by summarising it: Brexit goes Farages way in the beginning and he hates Cummings as he is an evil idiot. Then it turns and Brexit goes against Farage and it turns out Cummings is an evil genius. Very entertaining.

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 22:04

Walking that sounds good, thanks for telling us.

I have no idea if the Brexit drama on Channel 4 was remotely accurate but if it’s true that Cummings heard “the buzz, the hum” I really hope he’s still tapped into it.

Sallysaved · 30/01/2020 22:19

Our local council has apparently just announced more savage cuts to adult services.

I really hope we see a turn around very soon.

When do we get our money back from the black hole of corruption that is the eu!!

When!!

AutumnRose1 · 30/01/2020 23:09

Sally local councils are batshit though.
