Pound SOARS on Tory majority

Two days ago, I posted a BBC story saying how a Labour victory would cause the pound to crash and a Tory victory would cause the pound to rise. Mumsnet HQ removed the discussion thread and banned my account without warning.

Tonight, the Tories look to have won a significant majority and the Pound has indeed spiked higher to $1.34 and €1.20.

I invite mumsnet HQ to publicly apologise for their partisan censoring of a completely true story and restore the thread to its former glory.

Thank you.

Whatever rocks your boat

I wouldn't exactly call the temporary blip "soaring"

Only time will tell if the pound continues to rise as there still a great deal of uncertainty facing the UK so maybe hold off celebrating just yet

Donald bought it all.

Go on MNHQ restore and apologise.

It’s always the same Op. when Brexit was announced somehow sterling falling in as proof of something, but now vice verse it doesn’t mean anything.

The markets like certainty, so a Tory majority has given them confidence Brexit would happen, whereas anything else leaves us in limbo, which makes the market nervous.

It’s nice to see the £ at 1.35 again

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 13/12/2019 14:11

Why did they suspend your account? There must be more to it than that?

£ is almost back to the dizzy heights of 2018.

Oh look, and now, 10 days later, it is lower than it was before the election. What does that tell us? Ah yes, that it was a blip. (And the Brexit vote fall wasn't a blip, but the start of a trend)

So,hows that apology

Nippybutsweet · 28/12/2019 01:35

Wasn't a true story, merely an opinion you gave the day before (11th) the election that on the 13th showed promise only to plummet 10 days later - good luck with the apology - personally I wouldn't bank on it pun intended Grin
