I'm still so torn. In a single sentence can you say who you are voting for and why?

OP posts:
SheSnapsThenSheFarts · 11/12/2019 19:34

Labour, because austerity has hurt too many for too long.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 11/12/2019 19:34

Conservative.
The far left wing dominating Labour are inherently antisemitic (see the comments the Simon Wiesenthal Centre made that Labour are the biggest threat to Jews) added to which Labour's pie in the sky promised freebies for all would bankrupt the country.

Orwell was extraordinarily prescient with his comments about Socialism.

The truth is that, to many people calling themselves Socialists, revolution does not mean a movement of the masses with which they hope to associate themselves; it means a set of reforms which 'we', the clever ones, are going to impose upon 'them', the Lower Orders.

Leafyhouse · 11/12/2019 19:34

LibDem - Because I think Brexit will be the turning point where Britain stops being taken seriously by the rest of the world.

FAQs · 11/12/2019 19:36

Just for interest re the last 9 years argument, this is just one article but whoever was voted in would have had two terms of austerity ahead.

CareOfPunts · 11/12/2019 19:36

Exactly @JulyKit

“Get Brexit Done” is total fucking bullshit.

ineedto · 11/12/2019 19:37

Labour. Ten years under Tory government have brought our country to its knees.

flopsytheflatcat · 11/12/2019 19:37

Labour. Because I'm a decent human being.

Renoirsdancer · 11/12/2019 19:37

Labour, because I don't hate poor people. Those of you who are voting tory because you don't want to break up the union presumably aren't too fussed about NI (don't worry noone else seems to be either)

Weihnachtsstern · 11/12/2019 19:44

Labour. I work for the NHS, and want it to stick around for a long time to come.
Also, I despise the Conservatives.

Allmyfavouritepeople · 11/12/2019 19:45

Labour. Because no-one should die of poverty.

fromthefloorboardsup · 11/12/2019 19:46

Labour because I'm a remainer who thinks we need to unite the country and Labour's policy is the only sensible way to do this. Also because I'm a socialist (not a communist or a Marxist, big difference) who thinks the way to have a fair and decent society is to fund hospitals, schools, doctors, dentists, care homes, the railways and our country's infrastructure properly and share so we can all benefit. I don't think it's a coincidence that places like Denmark & Finland are often rated as the happiest.

I also think Corbyn is a refreshingly authentic politician who believes (like me) that discussion and research is the way to make decisions. He's not afraid to stand up to people (like Trump) or disagree with people and he's more than just soundbites.

Sorry that's not one sentence!

JAIENLCE29 · 11/12/2019 19:48

Labour.. I'm front line NHS, and I have seen how much privatisation has happened over the last 7 years and it scares me that this could continue under a conservative government

BlueEyedFloozy · 11/12/2019 19:48

SNP.

Grudgingly. Our area is an SNP/Tory stronghold with not a chance in hell of anyone else getting in so it's a tactical vote from me.

Wineislifex · 11/12/2019 19:49

Tory
Get brexit done quickly so they can concentrate on trying to tackle knife crime, gangs etc

fromthefloorboardsup · 11/12/2019 19:50

@TheGirlFromStoryville

Orwell was a socialist. A democratic socialist like the Labour Party. He was anti-totalitarianism not anti-socialism.

BlueEyedFloozy · 11/12/2019 19:50

Although with that said, in the current political climate I have no faith in anyone and don't know who i'd actually vote for other than to get rid of the Tory's.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 11/12/2019 19:50

Conservative - because any other vote would be damaging for our country.

Adollop · 11/12/2019 19:51

Labour because I want to stop Brexit and I believe the government should look after less privileged people.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 11/12/2019 19:53

I want Brexit asap and sick of people going on about 'privileged' people - do you mean people who have got off their backsides and worked at a decent job to earn money and look after their family???

WifeofDarth · 11/12/2019 19:53

Labour. I do not want to have to choose which children in my class get the support they need, I want every child to have that opportunity

TuppenceDarling · 11/12/2019 19:54

Green.
Because I’m a scientist and I trust the current climate predictions. I’m also scared the Tories will prevail... that would be a disaster for our future.

rosie1959 · 11/12/2019 19:54

Conservative because Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money

MrsBungle · 11/12/2019 19:55

Green. Best of a bad bunch.

Anotheruser02 · 11/12/2019 19:55

Labour, I want to remain and the homelessness situation in my area is getting worse.

HettyStThomas · 11/12/2019 19:56

Labour

I'm a teacher. We have lost 40 members of staff since the conservatives came in. We've just been told another 6 teachers have to be made redundant this year due to more budget cuts. I already teach classes of 39 and this will now go up to at least 45.
