Join Tories to vote for PM?

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, but I tried to Google/looked quickly at the Tory website and drew a blank.

What is to stop people of all sorts of political persuasions paying £25 to join the Conservative Party and influence the outcome of the leadership election? I thought there might be some sort of freeze on new members at the moment, or a minimum membership period before you were eligible to vote.

I know that the end result would still be a Tory, but I am just so depressed at the prospect of Boris.

There will be a cut off date for joining to be able to vote but I can't find what it is. Also there are rules around previous affiliation to other parties. Will try to find out the date for you.

Got it - you must have been a member for three months to be eligible to vote.

That makes sense. I am not a big fan of gaming systems anyway, was just curious why there had been no movements of people suggesting it.

Bring on a General Election.

Look what happened when we thought joining and voting Corbyn would be funny.

Now we are saddled with an unelectable Labour party and a useless opposition.

Next election everyone should vote independent.
