Can I 'unofficially' get my sister to vote on my behalf?

I'm very unexpectedly in hospital from tonight and looks like I will be for the next couple of weeks. It's too late to apply for proxy/postal vote.
Could I technically get someone like my sister who I would trust to vote as I wish to go on my behalf and just pretend to be me? Or are there other official options I can take?
I don't want to not vote.

Call your local council that’s organising the election, number will be on your polling card. Getting your sister to just turn up is actually election fraud and would invalidate any vote she made in this way.

If you are ill, the deadline is later. Call the number at the council and tell them the story and they’ll set up a proxy vote.

Talk to your election office at the council asap and get a doctors certificate. you can apply for an emergency proxy up yo %pm on the day, but the sooner the better

It isn't too late for a proxy vote. I think you can apply up to polling day itself provided you meet the criteria.
I was unable to vote in the EU referendum because on the day DD was rushed into hospital and I had to go to her (3 hours away) A friend sent me the criteria and unfortunately my circumstances did not meet them. Provided your circumstances fit the criteria it should be fine.

You definitely can.. , but better if you can do it earlier and it can be added to the voter lists before they go out to the polling station ( election worker here!)

You can legitimately obtain an emergency proxy vote up to 5pm on polling day.

She wouldn’t need ID (unless in one of the areas that are trialling ID).

Oh I thought you had to have ID. So people can just turn up and say theyre someone else, vote and no-one checks? Sounds really idiotic tbh.

I take it you’re not in the UK Maxi? The UK doesn’t have a compulsory photo ID scheme so no, you don’t need ID. You just need to give your name and address.

You could as long as she doesn’t vote at the same polling station and you’re not in an area trialing voter ID but as PPs have said, you can apply for an emergency proxy on medical grounds so why run the risk of committing fraud?

I’m in NI which does have compulsory ID so yes at least part of the U.K. does.
