Trump-Kim Singapore Summit

Trump has emerged from the meeting claiming victory and success.
However, does anyone really expect Kim Jong-Un to trust Trump, a man who has normalised lying and who has just shown contempt for America’s allies at the G7 summit.

Why did Trump have a "private" meeting with Kim Jong-Un? There was no reason for it except for him to persuade Kim to go along with his declarations of success, even though there will be no concrete agreement of any sort or no actual achievement. I think the agreement will declare an end to the Korean war, which, in practical terms, means very little - and there will be an agreement to negotiate denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, but without any detail.

Trump has torn up the Iran deal showing Kim that US treaties are worthless. The North Koreans will be highly suspicious of Trump’s actions and intentions; and no matter what Kim and Trump say at the conclusion of this summit; the North Koreans will not really leave their security and survival subject to the whims of Trump, who has proven, time and again, that he cannot be trusted.

Evidence of the adage that politics is show business for ugly people.

Though in this case VERY ugly is closer.

In private was so that what was discussed wouldn't reach Chinese ears..

Those athletic security guards aren't there to protect the rocket man from Westerners, nor do their nukes only point South.
