I define the NHS as offering both emergency and elective treatment.
We know that the latter is either slowly disappearing or there are long waits eg 2 years for a hip. The logical step-which is what other comparable countries have done- is to reduce the amount we spend on housing so that the money can be redirected towards services but I think too big a fall in house prices would only put millions already heavily in debt into trouble so it looks like by the time we have sorted things out the NHS will have gone? Plus of course the shortage of qualified staff does not help
