I don't see that ever happening, do you think that could ever happen within the next 50/60/70 years?

Assuming the person lived in Scotland and had done for a while beforehand.

Yes, I do. I find your question rather ignorant. Racist even.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 30/12/2017 19:27

As an English person who used to live in Scotland, I had verbal abuse etc because of where I was from. I personally found a lot of tension because of it. I did not mean for this in any way to be racist or ignorant and I apologise if it comes across in that way.

If it was someone who had lived in Scotland for a reasonably long time and was committed to Scotland politically, I would be surprised if it would be much of a factor. If it was someone who just waltzed in without dedicating time to Scottish politics, that would be a problem.

Well, there are members of the SNP who are English and the current leader of the Labour Party in Scotland is English. It’s all together possible.

trixymalixy · 30/12/2017 19:44

I would like to think it would be possible and it shouldn't be an issue, however I think there would be some who would have an issue, given that some were complaining about the new labour leader being born in England.

given that some were complaining about the new labour leader being born in England

Really? I’ve hear plenty of criticism about his lack of knowledge about what is devolved and what is reserved but not much about his nationality.

Yes there was loads of stuff on Twitter about it. Some from Sarwar supporters, some from the nats.
